I have a real treat for you with today’s real wedding. It’s a flower filled affair, brimming with boho goodness and so many beautiful details that make this Canadian wedding a real treat for the eyes. Kirsty the stunning bride looks radiant in her custom-made gown, while Stephane is totally dashing in his relaxed look, what a beautiful couple! I just love the outdoor ceremony, the table plan, the decor but most of all the amazing flowers that literally fill every space possible! Big thanks Elsie from Toast Events for the wonderful submission and to Joel Bedford for the gorgeous photos.
Kirsty and Stephane were married on the 15th August 2015 in their home backyard in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. ‘We have a gorgeous willow tree in the yard and lots of space. It also helped keep it quite personal! We had 140 guests and the wedding took 1 year to plan.’
How they met
We met at Maxwell’s (a local bar/nightclub) where we both worked. We’ve been together off and on for 13 years
The proposal
We were in Cairns, Australia. We headed over to green island for a day of snorkelling in the reef. While following a sea turtle, underwater, Steph pulled out a sealed paper that read “Kirsty, will you marry me?”
How did you allocate your budget
To be honest, there was no real budget, just conscious spending
Where did you splurge and where did you save
We definitely splurged on the florals…..it’s not a wedding without florals!
How did you choose your photographer
Not only are they friends, but we loved their style
The dress
My dress was custom made by my mom, and designed by me. I wore something blue as a TACORI ring, and my shoes were footless sandals from The table Lands, Kuranda, Australia and for the evening I wore sandals by Salvatore Ferragamo
The suit and bridesmaids
The suit is a Zzenga and the bridesmaid dresses from Boutique 1861, kimonos from Nordstrom. The flower girl skirts were also custom made by my mom.
Theme or colour scheme
We wanted a light and airy feel.
Flowers
We had hanging ameranthis, garden roses, ranunculus and craspedia,
Decoration
Florals were our décor, we brought in hydrangea trees, and arrangements with lime green and deep purple potato vine
Food
We had a gourmet BBQ, beef brisket, Cajun catfish, Portobello. Late night snack was chicken tacos
Wedding cake
The cake was made by a close friend of the bride, Carrie Kearns
Entertainment
We had the The Jenn Morin Band
Stationery
Our stationery was custom designed and hand drawn feathers by a close friend of the bride, Tara Mulloy
Personal touches
I handmade a dreamcatcher that was very special
Highlights of the day
Dancing!
