I have a real treat for you today with this absolutely stunning Spanish Wedding from Radka Horvath Photography. The whole day is absolutely beautiful from the emotional church service to the amazing decoration at the reception. I just love the flowers that they have chosen, as well as the moss on the table that goes perfectly with their whimsical woodland theme. All the little details, set the day off perfectly and Clare-Ann’s Temperley dress is just divine. I do love a destination wedding, who wouldn’t with all that lovely sunshine and this one is one of my favourites for a while!
Clare-Ann and Tommy were married on 11th July 2015 at Santa Maria de los Remedios Church, Estepona Cortijo Pedro Jimenez, Casares, Spain. ‘We always wanted to get married away as it has more of a relaxed vibe. We had a total of 76 guests and it took 6 months to plan the wedding’
How they met
We first met when we were around 10. We grew up on the same road and become friends when we were around 18.
The Proposal
Tommy proposed to me with our son Josh who as eight at the time on St. Stephen’s Day in our house. They had picked the ring together on Christmas Eve so I don’t know how they kept it a secret for the two days! Just before Tommy proposed, our son asked him to “give me the ring!” so obviously the suspense was getting to him!
How did you allocate your budget
We used a wedding planner (Rachel McFadden) which was the best idea as we were both working so much we didn’t have the time to deal with all the planning. We signed up to a package with Rachel so she allocated the budget.
Where did you splurge and where did you save
We splurged on the food, drink and entertainment as it was important to us that everyone had a good time. We saved by skipping favours and church leaflets and keeping the invites very simple.
How did you choose your photographer
I was given a list of photographers by our wedding planner and Radka immediately stood out. I looked at her previous work and liked her attitude. We were both worried that the photographs would be a chore on the day but we had great fun with Radka and James.
The Dress
Dress was by Alice Temperley and shoes by LK Bennett. I wore a bracelet that I received as a present from my husband after our son was born.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Grooms suit was by Mark Swan, My Personal Tailor and the groomsmen suits were from Topman. The bridesmaids were Frock and Fabulous in Dublin.
Theme or Colour Scheme
Our wedding planner created a Woodland Whimsical Theme. I was given a list of themes to choose from and I thought it sounded really different. It looked amazing on the day.
Flowers
I left the flowers to the wedding planner as I figured she would make better choices than me! The flowers were one of the most amazing things about the day, I wasn’t expecting them to be so beautiful.
Decoration
We had moss on the tables which worked beautifully and flowers everywhere. Rachel decorated the entire venue with gorgeous little pieces.
Food
Scallops and lobster for starters and steak and sea bream for main.
Wedding Cake
Elena Echevarria from Deli Delicious made the cake, it was chocolate sponge with cream frosting and fresh flowers.
Entertainment
Malaka Youth – reggae band and our friend Simon Meaney as DJ.
The Stationery
Anoulka from Nulkinulks stationary
Personal or Handmade Touches
Our planner did most of the work but the music was personal. The string quartet played my husband’s favourite song as I walked up the aisle; that was a surprise for him so he enjoyed that. We also had my husband’s cousin Molly act as translator in the Church which added a lovely personal and humorous touch!
Special Moments
There are so many it is difficult to choose. When we arrived at the venue after the church, there was Spanish music, champagne and canapes, I was taken aback at how amazing everything looked. The atmosphere was fantastic. We also had a great time at the meal and it was very emotional before I left with the church when I met my Dad.
Advice to other couples
Enjoy the planning and relax as much as possible. Don’t worry about the little things! If you can, use a wedding planner. Having someone who knows exactly what they are doing takes the stress away and gives some amazing touches.
Biggest surprise
How easy everything was and how smoothly it ran. I was also surprised at how beautiful the venue looked when decorated and we really enjoyed all of the entertainment.
