Spring is well and truly here! It has been lovely and sunny here in Yorkshire I hope you have had some of this lovely spring sunshine where you are. Today we welcome back our resident honeymoon expert Tom, as he offers some first class honeymoon advice. Last time Tom shared with us his top Spring Honeymoon destinations and today he is back sharing with us his top honeymoon picks for May.
May is a fantastic time to honeymoon – especially if you want great weather, great prices and a great holiday atmosphere. With it being the outside of peak season in most travel destinations, you’ll find some fantastic deals but you won’t be stuck with the crowds. If you’re honeymooning in May, here are 6 super honeymoon destinations to check out.
The average temperature for May is around 24°C in Cyprus so you’ll get lovely warm weather to relax in the mountains! Get away from it all and discover the lush green surroundings of the Troodos Mountains, where you’ll find the perfect balance of an off-the-beaten-path adventure with the little luxuries you need for a just-married getaway, especially if you go with a walking holiday specialist. This romantic location is home to the Caledonia Falls, the Millomeris Waterfalls and a number of quaint mountain villages, all just waiting to be explored.
May weather in Italy is glorious and a trip to the Amalfi Coast will combine everything you need for the recipe of love; sun, sea, culture and some of the most amazing gastronomical experiences for foodies. On top of that, you’ll find the most mind-blowing views in Positano and the most spell-binding sunset spots in Capri. Hire a luxury convertible and explore the stunning coastline in style and don’t forget to make plenty of pit stops along the Sorrentine Peninsula because every town / village has its own unique charm.
Rhodes in May will promise gorgeous weather and very little rainfall, so if you want guaranteed sunbathing, this wonderful Greek Island is not to be missed. Rich in history, Rhodes is ideal for couples who like to explore on foot and with smaller crowds outside of the summer season, you’ll get a much more authentic taste of life on the Greek Islands – not to mention the best tables at top restaurants without having to queue. Rhodes also has many long stretches of beach on all sides of the island so no matter where you stay, you’ll have close and easy access to the coast.
The Galápagos Islands are out-of-this-world beautiful and with an isolated location in the Pacific, you’ll feel completely secluded from the rest of the world. Boasting soft white sand and sapphire blue waters, every moment will feel so surreal. May temperatures are up to 32°C and water temperatures are between 18°C and 24°C (perfect for a romantic sunset swim). At this time of year Galapagos cruise prices will also be discounted in May so you’ll be able to get a great honeymoon deal!
With the city of Dubrovnik, you’ll get the best of both worlds; a taste of city and beach. Better yet, Dubrovnik is also known for its fresh oysters so if you’re looking for the ultimate aphrodisiac, take to the oyster and champagne bars of this historic city and enjoy amazing food and drink along with stunning views of the Adriatic Sea.
Portugal is one of the best honeymoon destinations in May because you’ll get guaranteed great weather. In the country’s southernmost region, the Algarve proves to be a popular place for tourists. It’s known best for its sunny Mediterranean climate, beautiful beaches and its many golf courses; it’s also home to number of luxury spa hotels so you there’s something to please every type of couple, even if you have to take the kids along.
Thanks so much Tom, great advice as ever I’m sure you will agree. Pop back in May for more Honeymoon and Travel advice.
