Happy Friday to you all and (almost) welcome to the weekend. How are you all today? We are all great here at Boho HQ and are looking forward to the weekend.
Today we are back with our weekly Diary of a Boho Bride feature and today we are bringing back Fay and Graeme to the blog. Last time on the blog they chatted all about 6 months to go and today they are back talking all about their gorgeous engagement shoot. I love these images from Melissa Beattie.
With less than five months to go, it’s all getting very real and we have both started having regular wedding nightmares! Mine generally involve not being ready and in Graeme’s dreams he forgets to come to the wedding altogether!
Today I will be writing about the dreaded engagement shoot. I say dreaded because it was something that neither of us were particularly looking forward to. You only have to look on Pinterest to see some truly horrific examples and we just aren’t the cheesy, lovey-dovey type of couple. However, our amazing photographer, Melissa Beattie made us feel really comfortable on the day and although we occasionally felt a bit silly posing in the middle of Lymm Dam, it was actually a really worthwhile thing to do. I feel our wedding portraits on the day will look a lot more natural, as we now know what to expect. Melissa created some really gorgeous images and it was a great way to get to know her. It made us realise just how important choosing a photographer is. As well as looking at the individual style of each photographer, you need to remember you will be sharing your wedding day with them from start to finish. I think we have chosen well with Melissa; as soon as we saw her portfolio we both loved her soft focus, fine art style, and now we know she is a fun person to spend time with too.

My sister, my cousin (both bridesmaids) and I went to the National Wedding Show in Manchester this month. Although I am not a fan of these types of events, I discovered that Maids to Measure were going to be there. My bridesmaids had just chosen dresses from their website and I thought it would be beneficial to go and see them in person. Co-founder, Sinclair Sellars, was so helpful talking us through all the colour options and helping us to finally come to a decision (we’ve opted for dove grey if you’re interested)!
The main reason we’ve chosen Maids to Measure is the huge range of styles they offer. I have five gorgeous bridesmaids who all differ in shape and height. I was never going to find one dress to suit them all and I wanted them all to feel comfortable and happy with what they’re wearing on the day. Maids to Measure have over 20 different styles from modern to vintage, so for anyone like me who hates most bridesmaid dresses, I would urge you to look at their website!
I also want to say a big thank you to bridesmaids Leah and Liz who came for a craft day at my house and helped to make over ten metres of feather garland to dress the teepee. They look beautiful!
Next time, I will hopefully be writing about the dreaded seating plan if our RSVPs arrive back in time…
