1) Once you’ve chosen a hair stylist and make-up artist, arrange a trial session 8-12 weeks before your wedding. Why so long? Because if you’re not happy with the results you’ll need to go through the whole process again, possibly even to the extent of finding a new stylist.

2) Your make-up trial needs to take place during daylight hours to ensure the light is as it will be on your wedding day.

3) Make sure you that you have any hair accessories you’re planning to wear on the big day in time for the trial. Your stylist will want to create a complete look for you at the trial session, so it’s important everything is to hand.

6) If you’ve created a Pinterest board as inspiration for your wedding – and so many brides do – take it along to the trial. It will help get across your ideas and will also be great reference for whoever is doing your hair and make-up. Ideally, try out several looks so that you can be sure you’ve made the right final decision.

7) Make sure your make-up artist uses long wearing products and fixing spray – you want your make-up to look good and stay in place all day, not to mention the possibility of withstanding a few happy tears!  Anti-sweat powder is another great trick for keeping make-up in place. A good make-up artist will know how to compensate for this without making you look garish.
