Jacqui and Paul’s Modern Vintage Wedding with Pale Pinks and Greys By Neil Jackson Photographic

Today we have a rather elegant wedding for you, a pure Luxe affair with sequins, gorgeous table settings, beautiful flowers and the most stunning venue, Alrewas Hayes in Staffordshire. A beautiful day from beginning to end, with a lovely air of sophistication and a subtle mix of Boho magic. Neil Jackson Photographic has captured the day perfectly with soft dreamy images and a contemporary eye. ‘Our wedding day was a such an amazing experience. So special to have all of our friends and family together in one space, to witness our joy when we finally got hitched!’

Jacqui and Paul were married on 13th June 2015 at Alrewas Hayes in Staffordshire. ‘We loved Alrewas Hayes manor house with its period features yet contemporary feel. They also provided converted barns for the accommodation which made us feel at home, as we live in a barn conversion ourselves. We had 125 guests in total and it took us between nine months to one year to arrange our wedding.’

How they met
We met through a mutual friend, who incidentally was our best man. We also gave our son the middle name ‘Miles’ to show show our appreciation! Paul and myself have been together for 14 years.

The Proposal
On the day of the proposal Paul and I made a trip to London, where we first met and subsequently lived together. He quite literally dragged me up to Hampstead Heath where sat upon a bench at the top of the hill, with a view of London.beneath us. Once we got our breath back he got down on one knee in front of a few dog walkers and popped the question.

How did you allocate your budget
We didn’t exactly have a budget (naughty) deciding if it is right for our wedding then we shall spend the pennies, eek

Where did you splurge and where did you save
Our splurge was most definitely the venue and food, but it was so worth it.
We saved on the dress as I discovered the one I fell in love with was actually an ‘end-of-line’ and had in fact been reduced.

How did you choose your photographer
I was recommended Neil Jackson through S6 Photography. Neil has an amazing vision for composing his images, just how I would envision them myself. He has a great way of capturing moments to make the viewer feel like they are actually there. Modern reportage photography.

The Dress
The dress was by . Rings by Tiffany. Garter from Goddess, Etsy. Shoes by Rachel Simpson.

The Suit and Bridesmaids
Suit by The Bespoke Tailor. Bridesmaid and flower girl dresses from Kiss.

Theme or Colour Scheme
Vintage theme with pale pinks, silver and greys.

Flowers
The flowers were created by Bloom Fleuriste, using peonys, roses, hydrangeas, sweetpeas, stocks, delphinium, gypsophila and freesias. Soft, blousy and glamorous. Colours of blush, mint, silver, ivory and white.

Decoration
Decor by Pumpkin Events using chiffon ivory ruffle chair backs and tall silver candelabra. Special additions of silver beaded glass charger plates and crystal silver glassware completed the look.

Food
We started with seared Dexter beef fillet Carpaccio, rocket and parmesan, with pan fried chicken, Pomme Anne potato, Fricassee of wild mushrooms and pancetta with honey roasted root vegetables for our main. For dessert we couldn’t decide on one, so the trio of desserts was perfect. Classic mini dishes of sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce, apple crumble and Eton mess.

Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was created by Cotton & Crumbs. They provided a four tier round cake in pearl lustre, pale soft blush pink and silver sequins. Flavours included lemon, chocolate and salted caramel, red velvet and white chocolate with strawberry.

Entertainment
We had a DJ and a band called ‘The Vanz‘.

The Stationery
Stationary supplied by Eagle Eyed Bride.

Personal or Handmade Touches
Our personal touch towards the gifts for the flower girls was to have bespoke handmade dolls created in our wedding colours, something that could be treasured and loved forever. Made by Eclectic Critters.

Special Moments
My special moment was most definitely walking down the aisle with my father. The highlight for me was seeing my new husband with biggest smile on his face I’ve ever seen as we spent a few moments alone straight after the ceremony to share a glass of champagne together.

Advice to other couples
To other couples who are planning their big day my advice would be to to start planning early and not to overthink everything. The day will go quicker than you think. Try and soak up every second and breathe it all in.

Biggest surprise
Biggest surprise for us was how angelic and well-behaved our children were!
