Todays wedding is a real beauty, a boho inspired ocean side wedding, brought to you courtesy of Shelly Anderson photography. Amy and Wes were married on 23rd May 2015. Amy’s family friend owns the most gorgeous estate in California and she knew she always wanted to get married there. The property has a Garden Maze, and real toy railroad track, a gorgeous pool, and amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, what could be more perfect! Since Wes and all of his friends are professional musicians, they obviously had to have their friends play as the band for the late night entertainment! This is a truly beautiful wedding with a gorgeous first look, outdoor ceremony, and stunning ocean side reception.
How they met
Wes and I met through mutual friends at Moonlight Beach. My friend insisted that she come hang out after she was done with work to “meet her friends from Boston”. Wes was one of those Boston boys. He was originally from California, but had been going to school at Berklee Music School, and came back for a visit. We had an instant connection and ending up talking and hanging out at a casino that night until 2am!
The proposal
Fast forward a few years, Wes knew it was time to propose. He had it all perfectly planned in his head, but not everything went as planned! Wes organized a rental cabin in Big Bear and invited all our best friends, unbeknownst to me. He proposed by the lake, in the dark after a million things had gone wrong that day (tons of traffic, it was a dark secluded area, several people almost ruining the surprise, me broken out in an allergic reaction of hives and SUPER grumpy about all the secrets, I was in sweatpants, etc. etc.). After all of that, he drove us to the house we were staying at for the weekend and all our friends slowly started trickling in to celebrate all night. It was great!.
The wedding
The wedding was a big affair and it was a very DIY event on top of it all! Our coordinator took over the job of florist when she heard I originally planned on doing it with my friends the night before the wedding. Melissa (their coordinator) told me not to worry and she would take care of it all. The flowers were GORGEOUS! My mom also helped with some of the catering, so did a lot of the appetizers and our cake! We even had friends as our MC/officiant, the whole day seemed like a family affair. The highlight of the wedding was the band! A majority of Wes’s friends are musicians, GREAT musicians. The band played hits all across the board, and the guests were dancing the night away, singing along. It was a fun filled day and we loved every minute of it.
