Diary of a Boho Bride – Jo & Paddy, Entry 4: 3 weeks to go!

How can it be Friday afternoon already? Time is flying by so quickly, I am hoping it stays dry for the weekend as I have a wedding in the morning and it’s my birthday on Sunday and I am hoping to enjoy a few drinks and possibly some good food. Fingers and toes are firmly crossed!

Today we are back on the blog with our regular Boho Bride feature and I would like to welcome back Jo and Paddy.  Last time on the blog Jo talked all about the dress  and today she talks about how it’s only 3 weeks to go!  Time Flies when you are having fun!

Jo and Paddy

I’ll pass you over to Jo and Paddy………

So it seems to be 3 weeks tomorrow….. Not sure how that happened!!!  In the last couple of weeks it really has been crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s however we still aren’t there yet!

We’ve had a (well I had a) skype catch up with our lovely celebrant Jenny to check in on the final plans and last bits for the ceremony. So all our readers are confirmed and hopefully ready for the day. We have chosen a mix to keep things interesting. As we’ve kept this a secret from our wedding party I can share these with you before the day.  My mum is reading Yes I’ll Marry You My Dear from Pam Ayers, we love this one and think it reflects us!  Our friends from our Mexico trip last year are reading our engagement story. This one is a secret and will be a lovely surprise to hear on the day.

We have 2 very important little (not so little!) boys in our lives that I grew up with. They aren’t so little anymore at 17 and 15 years old. I want them to be involved in our day and came across some readings/stories that remind me of them so asked them to read one each. Nic could recite The Owl and The Pussycat as his bedtime story when we babysat and they were bought up around Winnie The Pooh themes as their mum Jo loves it so Us Two is also a perfect read. Can’t wait to hear these on the day. Something a little different but lovely at the same time.

Jenny has a fantastic background in wedding planning as well as her celebrant skills so I spent some time asking her some questions and took the decision to scrap the order of service. As she said your day is relaxed and they aren’t singing hymns so they don’t need one. Plus it’s going to take your time and money. So that’s one thing off the list!

Last week on a very windy/rainy day we revisited our wedding venue – Elmley Nature Reserve and met with Gareth to go through final details. Despite the hideous weather we still love everything about it. In fact we think we love it more each time we visit. They make the place lovelier every day! However we need the sun to have his hat on for the day. J We got to see the Bell tents almost set up and some of the changes they’ve made which will help us when writing our final lists.

So after all the collecting of jam jars from us and friends I spent some time decorating them for flowers and tea lights. The florist like to know what they are working with so will require me to drop the jars etc. off by the end of August. Gaynor @ The Flower co. has been great from the initial meeting to a phone call last week and I have every confidence they will get it all perfect.  These were quite straight forward to make, after collecting Hessian and lace rolls, ribbon and wooden hearts with Mr & Mrs and Just Married I simply glued and stuck!

The confetti cones were a little more challenging! How to you make the point hole proof at the bottom?! I had visions of the confetti falling out Like when you bite the end of your ice cream cone when your 5, so ended taping the bottoms up to make them secure. I saw a picture with kraft paper which was shared last time and manage to create something pretty close if I do say so myself!

Finally I spent the weekend rummaging through the spare room amongst all the bits we have been buying for the past 8 months. It’s amazing how much you end up with and how much you forget you even bought!! I took the time to ensure labels were off and candles matched to each lantern before making our final lighting purchase. It’s not something you want to be panicking about the night before the wedding.

So my advice this week is you can never be too prepared!

Hope you like my amateur crafting, would love to hear what you think.

With Love

Jo & Paddy
