Diary of a Boho Bride – Kerry & Jon. Entry 8: Final Farewell

diary of a boho bride

Finally it’s FRIDAY!!! I certainly have that Friday feeling today. I’m just heading over to Borough Market in London to grab a plate of tasty food and a juice and I am going to spend a few hours with Paul wandering around London. We haven’t had a day off for ages but we have managed to take this afternoon off and what a great way to spend it wandering the streets.

Today we are back with our ever faithful regular feature Diary of a Boho Bride and today I would like to welcome Kerry back to the blog for the last time, as she is getting married in a months time! It has been lovely having Kerry on the blog and we really are going to miss her, but I’m looking forward to sharing her wedding photos with you all in  a few months time. So please wish Kerry and Jon all the best for their wedding on 22nd August I just know they are going to have a magical day.

I’ll hand you over to Kerry…

Happy Friday! I’m so excited, I can quite contain myself…. There’s only 5 weeks to go until we say I do!  It’s been an extremely busy few months juggling ticking off things to do with work and Jon had surgery on his back! I sometimes wonder how we’ve got this far as organised as we are. Wedding planning has been fun, challenging and tearful at times, although the rewards will be amazing.

Awesome Sten Do

At the end of June, 30 of us descended on Chester for a day of horse racing and drinking. Firstly we have to say a huge Thank You to Jon’s Best Man Mike and his Sister Hil for organising an amazing day that we’ll remember for years to come and secondly to all our beautiful friends who travelled from all over to join us – you guys are awesome!  I was worried how everyone would perceive going on a Sten Do. There was no need, everyone loved it and had a fabulous time. If you’re thinking of having one, go for it – you won’t regret it.

I know I’m not alone and I’m sure that most brides and grooms experience some form of hiccup along the way.  I’m going to admit it, I cried when our Vicar informed us that our Cinematographer required a license in order to film inside the Church. This hadn’t even crossed my mind and I was devastated that the most important part of our day would not be filmed for us to look back on.  With determination, I managed to find out that a license could be purchased for one off filming at a cost of £7. All those tears, were over nothing really. I think you can get completely caught up in the emotional rollercoaster and it can be somewhat overwhelming.
If you ever come across the same obstacle, it’s a Limited Manufacture (LM) licence that you need, which can be purchased online. If I can save one person the heartache I felt, I’m thrilled.

Latest DIY Project

I managed to bag myself an absolute bargain on eBay, a set of gorgeous old wooden ladders. When I went to collect them, the lovely lady said she had another set that I could have as she was just going to use them for firewood!
With a bit of cleaning, sanding and painting, I now have two beautiful sets of shabby chic ladders to use for decoration. They look great and I’m so pleased with them. We’re going to decorate them with flowers and pictures, a bit like this picture, but with out own twist.

Balances Due

Yay, we’ve paid our final balances. There’s a huge sense of satisfaction knowing that balances are paid and we just can’t wait to see everything come together.  Sometimes, it’s hard to imagine everything you visualise actually coming together as planned. I can’t wait!

Final Farewell

It’s been an absolute pleasure chatting to you all, I hope you all have a fabulous time planning your big day. I’m off to finish my other set of ladders, along with emergency DIY projects!

Best wishes,

Kerry & Jon
