I have a lovely wedding for you today, a pretty pastel barn wedding with the most gorgeous outdoor ceremony. Emily and Jonathan chose a lovely colour scheme of pale pink and grey, mixed in with ivory and an English garden theme. With Pimms a plenty, hay bales, giant balloons and paper pom poms this wedding is super pretty and full of handmade touches. I just love the cake table with the most amazing cup cakes and naked wedding cake, totally delicious. Big thanks to Jonathan and Maresa from J and M Photography for the images.
Jonathan and Emily were married on Saturday 13th September 2014 at Battlers green barn in Raddlet. ‘Our friends got married there and we loved the location – the barn the house and the garden truly stunning! We had 100 guests– close friends and family. It took Three months to plan. Our wedding day was just as we imagined and more! With perfect weather and our closest friends and family there to enjoy the day with us.’
How they met
We met at work and became friends. Then we discovered we were two peas in a pod. It then turned into an amazing loving relationship.
The Proposal
We were at Ashton court in Bristol where I took her with champagne and strawberry’s. I was on a mission to find the perfect spot (which meant go up the hill on the edge of the golf course). We found the spot that overlook the estate. Unforunately there were golfers behind us about 15-20 meters away looking for there lost golf ball. Over an hour later they went and I popped the question. Their was complete shock from Emily but she said Yes!!
How did you allocate your budget
We spent a total of 10k on the whole wedding
How did you choose your photographer
We chose Jonathan and Maresa because we had seen there work previously and we were very impressed. They were also fun to work with.
The Dress
The dress was originally Susan Nevelle, my shoes were carvella. My Necklace was Jonathan’s Grandmothers loan to me by his Mum.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
The Suit was from H.M Lewin and the Bridesmaids dresses were from John Lewis.
Theme or Colour Scheme
The theme was Vintage/English Country Garden. The colour scheme was soft pink, grey and ivory.
Flowers
The flowers were Hydrangea’s and gypsophila.
Decoration
We had white cotton bunting with soft pink grey and ivory tissue pompoms and fairy lights.
Food
For the main wedding Breakfast we had a cute burger van which supplied gourmet burgers and chips with salads made by friends. For desert we had beautiful cake table made up of cup cakes and a selection of traditional cakes this was provided by our dear friend Emma Smart and the brides mother. In the evening we had a buffet supplied by us.
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake we had a naked wedding cake made by Mandy’s Cakes which looked and tasted amazing.
Entertainment
We had a band as entertainment called Superbus they were amazing and got everyone dancing. Also on the day our friends did a Pimm’s tent to offer all of our guest’s a drink after the ceremony which looked amazing and went down really well. In the evening we had the company Tapped come in and provide us with a bar service that we would highly recommend, friendly guys, free hire with reasonably priced drinks.
Buy or DIY your Stationery
Our beautiful stationary was designed and produced by our close friend Emma Debruin as a wedding gift.
Personal or Handmade Touches
The whole Wedding was organised and decorated by ourselves with the help of our friends.
Special Moments
Our favourite part of the day was the ceremony as we are both Christians and it gave us an opportunity to share this with all of our friends and Family.
Advice to other couples
Our advise would for anyone else would be to not get carried away with unnecessary things. To keep it simple and to remember its your day so have it how you both want it!
Biggest surprise
how quickly the day went!
