Happy Monday everyone and how are you all today? I hope you all had a lovely weekend? I have a fab week of amazing weddings for you lined up this week, starting with this gorgeous homemade wedding that was sent into by Corrado Chiozzi. Jade and Carl have known each other since they were 17 which makes this wedding even more special. They chose a fun, relaxed day for their celebrations, with pretty homemade details, lots of paper pom poms, jam jars with flowers and LOADS of cake! I do love a good cake table at a wedding, I mean why have one cake when you have a table full! Such a pretty wedding I’m sure you will agree.
Jade and Carl were married on 29th August 2014 at Riverside house, Bishops Stortford Registry Office and the reception at St. Barnabas Centre, Thorley, Bishops Stortford. ‘We loved the atmosphere of the barn, it was relaxed but beautiful, had a lovely outside terrace and the location wad great. We had the reg office as it we where only having small numbers. Carl also grew up in the area. We had 35 guests on the day and 100 total at reception. It took us 8 months planning.’
How they met
We met when we were 17 on a Princes Trust course, we have been together for nearly 6 years.
The Proposal
Carl had been on a boys holiday to Thailand for two weeks and I was missing him like mad. I booked a nice hotel for a few nights away when he got back. (Chocolate boutique hotel Bournemouth). We were in the room when Carl came in saying he had got me a birthday present. He then handed me a little red box, I opened it and looked at him, I then said have you got a question? He said oh s%$t yes, will you marry me. I said yes of course. It was made just for me while he was on holiday and I was moaning he hadn’t got me anything from his holiday.
How did you allocate your budget
We spent around 8k in total, most on food and drink, it wouldn’t be a good party other wise. My dress was under budget but perfect and the rest was on entertainment and travel.
How did you choose your photographer
Have you met of seen Corrado? he is just amazing and his work is even better, it was just what I imagined and I’m so happy with the results.
The Dress
Dress was Forever Bridal an American company but brought from an amazing shop in Bishop Stortford called Boudice and bustle. Shoes from justfab.com, jewellery from my nan and hair piece from accessorise.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
All from Moss brothers, dresses from bhs and coast.
Theme or Colour Scheme
We didn’t really have a colour scheme but vintage and pastels
Flowers
My favourite sun flowers with a mix of rustic looking flowers and bridesmaids where the same minus the sunflowers, we also had them on all the tables
Decoration
We had lots of hand decorated jam jars, pom poms, origami birds and lots of vintage things
Food
We had afternoon tea with lovely cakes and sandwiches. For reception we had an amazing BBQ man feast
Wedding Cake
We had an enormous naked wedding cake, yummy Victoria sponge with fresh cream and lots of fruit
Entertainment
We had a DJ and a photo booth as I am the queen of selfies
Buy or DIY your Stationery
We brought out invites online and added my personal touch and spent very little on stationery as we didn’t have table plans or any extra stationery
Personal or Handmade Touches
I had so much help from family and friend making all of the wedding ecor, jam jars have taken over my house for the last 6 months, I made all the table runners pom pom. Everything was made or borrowed
Special Moments
One of the biggest surprises was my amazing cake. I showed my friend a few pictures and that was it, but it truly was breath taking. It was still being made when we arrived and it had a few wobbly moments but stayed standing till the end. Unlike a few people. Carls nan writing us a super funny and cute poem. Carl’s favourite moment was seeing me walk down the aisle and mine was finally becoming a member of the Green clan
Advice to other couples
Planning was so much fun but at points the most stressful thing ever. I think I am so glad I can say I planned all of my wedding and every last detail was my creation. I’m so glad it turned out to be like I imagined in my head. The one thing I would say is to only think of yourselves dont worry about other and not stressing. Just embrace the whole thing and let it be fun
Biggest surprise
We didn’t have a big surprises, which I’m glad it all went to plan
