What made you decide to get married where you did?
Henry grew up in the area, and we also got engaged there. The Church is beautiful, and the congregation were very welcoming to us

Suzanne Neville, from Signature Brides in Hythe.

And the suit?
Marc Wallace, in Parsons Green.

How would you sum up your day?
Happy, fun and relaxed. We wanted a day that everyone would enjoy.

Did you have a theme or colour scheme?
Royal blue and silver.

Did you have any personal touches, or things that you did yourself?
We are so lucky to have a lot of talented and helpful friends and family who helped us with decorating the venue, creating beautiful pots of flowers and table centres, taking us to France to source the wines, making cheeseboards and making the cake. Our DJ is family and the band, friends of the family. My sister spent hours making beaded birds for our flower centre pieces. We had a friend help us design, and created all of our stationary for us. We also designed the table numbers which has a picture of each of us at the age of the table number, I made the ribbon heart pew ends, and we had two friends do our readings during the service. We had bowls of Hershey kisses, and packs of love hearts with our names and wedding dates on the table, and I added thistles to my bouquet as my Gran in Scotland couldn’t make it.

What were your special moments or highlights?
Saying the vows and smiling at the realisation we were enjoying saying them and not blubbing our way through! And the speeches were amazing! They had the perfect balance of humour, emotion and embarrassment!

Is there anything you would do differently?
Not a thing. We feel so blessed to have had a perfect day and start to our married life together.

What advice would you give any other couples?
Don’t forget what’s important – that you’re celebrating your love and unity. When you focus on that, everything else falls into place.
Trust in the team that you have chosen; Deborah, Mark and Russell at Swallows Oast were brilliant. They reminded us that they’ve organised many wedding receptions before and would take care of everything.
For ideas, look around you and realise what makes you happy, the inspiration for our stationary came from the wallpaper from my bedroom! Ask for help, we chose to have garden flowers from a picture we found at the florists. Juliet at Flower Craft Workshop was really helpful and advised us on which flowers to use for the tables and corsages too. We wanted everyone to be relaxed and enjoy celebrating with us, and we could really see that when we looked around during the day, and it is also captured perfectly in the photographs, thank you so much Penny and Martin!

What was your biggest surprise of the day?
How many people told us how much they were enjoying themselves!

We met by random chance through friends of friends at a birthday party, and the weekend we got married was our 6th anniversary.

How would you sum up your day?
Absolutely perfect and amazing.

Did you have a theme/colour scheme?
We wanted a relaxed country feel to the day and the colour scheme was claret and ivory (claret because of Giles’ love of West Ham united football club…..)

What made you decide to get married where you did?
Getting married at St John’s Church was very important to me as it is the parish I grew up in and luckily it is also stunningly beautiful. When we visited Woodthorpe Hall as a potential reception venue we were amazed at how beautiful it was, its fabulous location and the wonderful owners who made the day go so smoothly for us.

Did you have any personal touches? Or things that you did yourself?
We wanted to do as much as possible ourselves but thankfully we had lots of help from family and friends. We made all the stationary with the help of my mum, we enjoyed spending time finding flower jugs, lanterns, tea light holders, sweet jars and lots more for the marquee. We dressed the marquee ourselves which was really good fun and kept us (and lots of others) busy the day before the wedding!

How many guests?
There were about 80 people during the day with more arriving for the evening.

What were your special moments/highlights?
The whole day was fabulous.

Is there anything you would do differently?
Start earlier so the day was longer!

What advice would you give any other couples?
Don’t worry about the little things, it will all fall into place on the day, and don’t be nervous there really is no need.

What was your biggest surprise of the day?
That it was sunny!

For now I have a rather stunning wedding to share with you. I was sent this wedding a few weeks ago now and I have been dying to post it! It comes from Studio Laguna all the way from Minnesota in the USA. Studio Laguna John and Katrina who have been tacking pictures since 2000, their style is very relaxed and they get to work with the best couples.
This wedding is of Erin and Dan who got married in Wisconsin. I just LOVE this wedding! the photography is soft and romantic and really shows off the couple and their amazing guests! the wedding itslef is AMAZING!! you know how much I love an outdoor wedding! and this one is just perfect, so many gorgeous DIY details as well! They also decied to take some day after shots which are simply stunning!

John and Katrina told me a bit more about the wedding:
Dan and Erin have traveled and lived all over the United States.  They are adventurous and intelligent and are dedicated to have a rich life. They were married at Maiden Rock Apple Orchard in Stockholm, WI.
Erin took the summer off and dedicated all her time to the wedding.  She made EVERYTHING.  From collecting leaves and antique buttons for the bouts to sewing extra details onto her dress to shopping at flea markets for antique napkins and chalkboards.

It was a lovely wedding with a sunset ceremony full of emotional moments and thoughtful details.  Over the years, Erin and Dan have collected rocks from everywhere they’ve been.  So instead of a unity candle, they had a rock that was passed and blessed by each member of their family.  It was all the little things like this that made it so special.

Dan is a chef, so he wanted the food to be awesome.  They hired a local cook known for his delicious roast chicken and embraced their setting with a down home American meal of chicken, corn and mashed potatoes.  The orchard’s own apple cider was served along with some local beers and a cake made by Erin’s sister, an aspiring pastry chef.  The night ended with a fun dance and a huge bonfire that stretched into the clear night sky.  It is one of our favorite weddings.

The day after we did our Reprise Session, and that was lovely and relaxed as well =)

Mark tells me a bit more about the day:
‘Here is James & Suzanne’s winter wedding was held at the Huddersfield Town Hall in West Yorkshire. As you can see from the images it was another very cold wedding but luckily it was a couple of weeks after the heavy snow when most of the country roads in Yorkshire were impassable. Suzanne braved the bitterly cold wind to have some photos taken high up on the hills at The Pennine Manor Hotel. The hotel had beautiful views of the snow covered moorland which is part of the Yorkshire Pennines. The wedding was held a short distance away at the very grand Huddersfield Town Hall. After the wedding ceremony the town hall staff very kindly allowed me to use the concert hall for James & Suzannes portraits. I loved the old Victorian interior of the concert hall, very impressive! James & Suzanne’s Wedding reception was held at Outlane Golf Club which is also in Huddersfield. Here are some of my favourites from James & Suzanne’s special day.’

Shaun tells us a bit more abiout the day itslef:
I Loved this day!! Chinese weddings are always so lively and fun and one of my favourite asian wedding videos I film. We headed north for the day and arrived at Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel at 7:00am ready to film Phil and Ling’s day. We started with Ling and her bridesmaids as they got ready and waited for the boys to arrive. Chinese weddings are great to film as the girls prepare games and challenges (known as “door games”) for the groom to prove before he is allowed access to his bride. It’s a great way of easing tensions and helping everyone to relax into the day. Chinese wedding games often include the groom reciting poems, answering questions about his new bride, singing love songs very loudly, eating spicy foods and paying money to the bridesmaids. Once the groom and groomsmen have completed their tasks then he can enter the room and collect his bride
The rest of the day took place in Manchester and included tea ceremonies, lion dancing, fire crackers and a 12 course wedding banquet at the Glamorous Chinese Restaurant in Manchester. Overall a fantastic day and here are the highlights of Ling and Phil’s Chinese Wedding Video.

Jonas is based in Brisbane Australia, but lives in Sweden in the summer months, so is also available for European photography. His work sees him travel all around the world, so it isn’t impossible to think that you could book him for your wedding photography!

Today’s wedding is that of Matt and Angie who got married in Bali. I’m  sure you will agree with me it is totally stunning, an amazing couple who are both just gorgeous! The wedding is so beautiful, laid back and chilled and set in an amazing location with such wonderful views….simply perfect!

Jonas tells us about the wedding:
When Matt and Angie met at the Glastonbury Festival it was love at first sight. Only one problem; Matt had just moved from the UK to sunny Australia. Six months later Angie followed her heart and joined Matt down under. When they decided to get married they found themselves in a bit of a pickle. They needed a spot somewhere in between the UK and Australia, so that family and friends, both old and new, would be able to join them on their big day. The answer was Bali. On the day the 38 guests joined Matt & Angie at Villa Pemutih in Bingin. Overlooking the Indian Ocean – and with monkeys in the trees – we all experienced a very special day. Angie wore a vintage 1950′s dress she found in London, the girls got their stunning purple dresses made after they arrived in Bali and the boys looked equally dapper in grey and blue. Everything had a local touch, even the welcome drinks tasted of Bali with ginger and lemongrass keeping people cool in the tropic sun. Both Matt and Angie are in to yoga, Angie even teaches classes in Sydney. The ceremony even started with all the guest doing a two minute “om” together with their eyes closed. It was also the first time I’ve seen a groom standing on his head in the bathroom while the guests were arriving outside and it still made perfect sense. In fact, most things made perfect sense, during the speeches groomsmen and bridesmaids shared photos and clips from both their lives on a huge screen.
It was truly fantastic. Come to think of it, everything was perfect.

The first Monday real wedding is this rather stylish 60s Mod wedding from Andy Rapkins. I’m not going to call it a themed wedding as this isn’t a Mod theme, this couple live and breath the mod lifestyle, they met at a Mod night so wanted this element to be reflected in their big day. I love how honest the wedding is, and how it is is a true reflection of them as a couple.

Nicki and Leon have also been good enough to answer some questions for me to give you a better idea about the day itself and also them as a couple!

How we meet/ how long together?
We initially meet in the February of 2002 at a Mod all-nighter in London called Crossfire 1. This is an event held by a collective called The New Untouchables.
We were introduced and just got talking. Unfortunately that was it for our first meeting as I was seeing someone at that point. In the May of 2002, Whit bank holiday weekend to be precise, We randomly bumped into each other at another Mod Function in Mayfair and this time I was single!
The fact that he was there on a blind date was insignificant in the whole matter.

The Wedding was held at The Node in Codicote, Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

Who was your dress by
My full dress was made by family friend, Shirley Storey. Shirley very patiently put together my design of an image that I remember from a Sunday afternoon watching the Cloths Show. I remember seeing this 1960’s hooded dress on what can only be described as a 60’ royal wedding. I searched high and low for this footage without any joy. With Shirley’s eye for detail and skill, she made the dress that I had always wanted. My evening dress was an Internet purchase made for me across the pond, it was a copy of Audrey Hepburn’s gown in Funny Face, and for such a bargain price, the quality and finish was amazing. No regrets!

The Suit!
The Groom and the best mans suits came from “Adam Of London” Portobello Green. Exceptional style, quality and Service. Mod through and through.

Theme / Colour Scheme
Without the wedding turning into a theme party and all of our friends rushing out to hire fancy dress costumes, as you can see from the photos, we decided to have a subtle vein of the 1960’s running through the day, as this is our lifestyle choice. The colour that we tied into the day was a really nice pale blue, from table decorations to cravats, flowers, bridesmaid dresses. The flowers ended up a slightly more purple shade of blue on the day, but looked beautiful all the same. You can’t argue with nature at the end of the day.

What made us decide to get married where we did?
We chose the venue earlier this year when we attended a wedding fair which was our second visit to the venue. It was a beautiful day, brisk and glorious sunshine. Just like our actual wedding day turned out. We had previously been to a private party at the Node on the same weekend as our wedding the previous year. After a second visit in their care, we were very happy to book up with them.

Personal touches/ things we did ourselves
A lot of little things that made up the whole day were arranged personally between ourselves and with family and immediate friends. My friend Natalie spent days dying cooking rice baby blue for confetti, the personalised stamp that we designed through the Royal Mail for the invitations. I also sourced a company in Brighton, to make up personalised stick of rock, theses had our names running through the middle as well as our stamp picture in the wrapping of the rock. There were a lot of little images of us around on the day, but not to the point of overkill. Our personal touches were complimented by Our Photographer Andy Rapkins who also positioned small business card size images on the tables with images from our engagement shoot. These finished off the tables perfectly as we had taken them by the sea side near my family home in Dorset and they full of different blues to compliment.

How may Guests
We had a total of 75 guests for the wedding breakfast, with a few extras in at the ceremony. At the evening reception our numbers came up to approximately 160 guests in total.

Our special moments of the day
We had several special moments during the day, from the gifts that Leon and I left for each other. One of Leon’s highlights was when he got of the buss at the train station to meet our guests and the scooter clubs to walk around the corner to find 25 scooters and one vintage Fiat 500 instead of the expected 6 or 7 scooters. This then became my highlight to watch them all arrive in such excitement and style.

Is there anything we would do differently?
I would have to say no, not really! The little things that went wrong failed to cause any major disruptions to the day, they only made the day richer. The groom being late to the ceremony, thanks vintage bus! What an arrival all the same. The venue was super but a lot of food was wasted in the evening as numbers and invites were slightly dictated to the amount of guests and we did not go for the full buffet which we would have been allowed to cater for a percentage. Be brave, play the system, don’t let it dictate your actions.

Advice to other couples
Be savvy and arrange as much as possible yourselves! Use the Internet, it’s an amazing tool for finding anything that your heart desires. If you are lucky enough to have plenty of help and volunteers on the day of the wedding you can save a fortune, parents and god parents sat blowing balloons up and making rice confetti bundles. We couldn’t have done it without them all. At the same time, staying busy keep us both in focus and helped us stay calm about the huge event in front of us.

Make sure that you have picked like minded people to create your wedding film and photographs, if they understand who you are and what you like, they will capture the day in its best possible light.
Lastly, try and meet up with your other half every hour or so in the evening celebrations as the evening will run away with you.

The Location of the wedding Valley Ho Hotel Scottsdale, the ceremony held on the Rooftop, an intimate group of 50 family and friends.
Claire says ”My favourite moment was when she cried and she walked towards him for their fist look(we often arrange a 1st look prior to the ceremony, where we capture then follow on and do their alone portrait shots)”

As you probably know I love the American way of tacking pictures, and also the weddings over there, there just seems to be so much more scope and variety. The wedding that I’m sharing with you today is no exception, the atmosphere is cool, laid back and fun.

Claire gave me a few more details about the wedding:
Bride is Melissa and the groom is Daithi, Date April 9th 2010. The Venue was at a private house in Arcadia area of Phoenix Arizona. The groom and his family flew in from Ireland, the rest of the family were mainly from the East coast of USA. There was so much personality, great group of people, at the end of the wedding service they playing U2 It’s a beautiful day, the following weekend was the volcano so the timing was perfect for them a week later and it would not have happened!
