DIY Inspiration – ‘Shipwrecked’ by Adore by Chloe

Today I hand over the blog to my new Guest Blogger Chloe Adlington from Adore By Chloe . Chloe is the Queen of all things handmade and DIY, so when my readers survey results came back as saying you all wanted more DIY features I knew Chloe was the person to contact.

Chloe will be making a monthly appearance on the blog, bringing you DIY ideas, tutorials and inspiration. So I hope you all show her lots fo Boho Love!
Today Chloe brings us a stunning Mood Board full of DIY ideas and inspiration. So let me hand over the Blog to Chloe and let her introduce herself to you all.

Hello and thanks so much to Kelly for inviting me to be a regular guest contributor on the Boho blog, I’ll be here once a month to bring you DIY wedding goodness!
I write about creative, handcrafted weddings over at my little blogging home www.adorebychloe.co.uk but it’s nice to be out and about making new friends I’m not going to lie, it’s a tiny bit weird / cringeworthy to introduce myself formally but I also know that when I read a new blog I like to know a bit about the person behind the words. It’s nice to imagine the person writing then you can relax, enjoy and it feels like catching up with a friend, do you know what I mean?!

Ok, so here goes…. newly engaged (yay!), blonde, mid- late twenties, full time blogger with two little pug assistants called Lily & Alfie. LOVE making things, writing lists, drinking tea, baking cakes and weddings… obviously! It’s lovely to meet you, now can get stuck in with an ‘Adore DIY inspiration board‘?…. not that I’m shy or anything

I’m sure you’ve seen hundreds of wedding ‘inspiration’ boards, they’re fab as they showcase creative styling inspiration (this one is ‘Shipwrecked’) and/or a colour palette (gorgeous combo of coral and sand) but I hope what you’ll like about these boards is that they are almost entirely made of of DIY projects!

DIY IDEAS

Styling your big day
-Personalise your chairs by hanging painted, cardboard initials on the back like these spotted in this SMP wedding by Yvonne Wong

-Scribe your seating plan onto a piece of wood for a rustic, beachy feel..like this one featured on SMP, by Vicki Bartel

- Use lanterns and drift wood as your table centrepieces, entwined with coral and peach flowers - from an amazing beach shoot on SMP, by KT Merry

Blush, peach and cream Inspiration board for my beautiful Texan bride

Today I am working at a wedding, so I thought I would share with you an Inspiration Board that I put together for today’s wedding.
The wedding is of Adrienne and Matt who are getting married in Garstang just outside of Preston. Adrienne booked me in May for my Partial Planning service at that point she lived in Texas and was marring Matt who lived in Garstang. As you can imagine she was struggling with the distance and all the factors that go into planning a wedding from a different country. So I stepped in and helped with the Venue search and several supplier searches and then have pulled the whole day together keeping to her blush and peach theme.

I have to say Adrienne is delightful!! a real ‘Peach’ as she would say! I was a bit neverous about meeting her last month as we had only talked through email, but I needant have worrid as we hit it off staright away! Her wedding is mixing the Texan elements with the tradtional English elements, with an English afternoon team, followed by Fajitas later on in the evening. Flowers have played a BIG part in her day so I called in the expert help of Verdure Florists who I met when exhibiting at the Tatton wedding show, and I have to say they have been amazing! Also shout outs to Lisa at Diva cakes for being so accommodating and flexible, the legend that is Elbie Van Eeden for what I know will be the most amazing hair and make up and also Lucy Stendall who is captuing the day with her camera.

Rustic wedding Inspiration Board with a hint of pink and green.

Today I am working at a wedding. It’s the wedding of Jenny and Tim who booked me only 8 weeks ago for my Rescue Remedy service. They came to me with the venue booked, the marquee and not much else, so I have been working very hard over the last few weeks to pull the whole wedding together, finding them caterers, florists, entertainment, decoration and a whole host of ideas to make their day come together, keeping them organised and within budget. I have to say it’s been a challenge, finding suppliers that are available at such short notice is never easy but Jenny and Tim are such a fantastic couple it has made it all worth while.

I put this inspiration board together to help visulaise soem of the ideas that I had and so we could see what the overal look would be like. Jenny has gone for plae pink and pale green to go with her outdoor rustic themed wedding, and with the ceremony and reception being held at the Botanical gardens in Sheffield the whole themed works perfectly. So as you read this I will be running around extremmly busy makeing sure that they have the perfect day!

Inspiration Friday: Purple Party Inspiration Board

Most of the planning work I do is for weddings, but I do sometimes get asked to plan other events, such as wedding fairs, charity events as well as Birthday Parties. I have a rather special 21st Birthday party I’m in the middle of putting together that takes place in July. It’s to be held at the parents house in their back garden, and we are turning a Normal white marquee into a nightclub for the evening!
The colour scheme is black and purple, so we have hired in black table clothes, purple runners, a whole ceiling of black sparkly star cloth and we have a massive lighting rig going up to make sure we get the right sort of nightclub feel. But not before the 70 guest have been treated to champagne, and a rather amazing 3 course dinner………..oh and did I mention the flare mixologists that we have coming as well to create one off birthday cocktails for the lucky Birthday girl.

So to help pull all the ideas together and to have something visual to work with I have put together this Purple Party inspiration board which included lots of the elements we will be using, (including the clear phantom chairs that I’m especially excited about)
I always find putting together an inspiration board helps clarify the look of the event and gives the client and I something to work from.

White with a hint of navy Inspiration Board

Today I have a white with a hint of navy inspiration Board for you. I put it together for one of my couples who are getting married in September in Thornton Manor in the Wirral. They have booked me for partial planning. They booked be over Christmas so I have been working with them since then. The main thing really has been keeping them in budget and then sourcing a number of suppliers for them, keeping them in check and making sure that each months jobs are getting done.

This wedding is going to be gorgeous, The venue itself is quite amazing so it doesn’t take much decoration but what the bride has asked for is lots of white, quite simple and modern, but with chandeliers and babies breath within her flowers. Her bridesmaids dresses are navy, so she is having accents of navy throughout the decor.

Inspiration Board: Hearts for Valentine’s Day

Unless you are living under a very large rock, you will know that today is Valentine’s day! some people love it, others see it as a chance for companies to cash in on us romantics and take us for every penny that we have…………I personally love it, unfortunately my husband isn’t such a fan, I think it’s a man thing!
last year I put two Inspiration Boards together a A Red themed Valentine’s Board as well as a Red wedding dress themed board
So today I thought I would do something different and put together a heart themed inspiration Board for anyone wanting to incorporate hearts into their wedding. A Bit of fun for valentine’s day, I hope you like it!

Inspiration Friday – Silver Inspiration Board

So with the new Blog schedule, Friday no longer sees a Real Wedding as before, instead I have decided to call it Inspiration Friday! and today I bring you a glittery silver Inspiration board!

Even though the snow has gone (for now) It’s still winter and brides and grooms are still having plenty of winter weddings. So I was thinking about colour schemes for winter weddings and thought that Silver would always be a popular colour scheme, so I came up with this silver Inspiration Board. I may do a gold one soon as well!

Christmas Wedding Inspiration Board

It’s day 2 of my Christmas week special. Today I bring you a Christmas Wedding Inspiration Board. After the Christmas Decoration board I did last week, I thought it would be great to put together some Christmas Wedding ideas. I’ve gone traditional as I am going to be doing a winter wedding board in a couple of weeks which I will keep white and silver.
I can’t quite believe that it’s only 4 sleeps till Christmas day………I’m actually looking forward to Boxing day the most and being able to relax, sit on the sofa all day and watch rubbish Christmas TV!!

Inspiration Board – Village Fete Wedding

The whole theme for Village fete weddings seems to have spread recently, I have several weddings next year using this theme. It seems to have come from an extension of the whole vintage theme, mixed with a some DIY elements.
It’s a great way to have a relaxed day, with lots of fun elements, while getting lots of people involved in the making and baking.

Here I have gathered a few ideas of ways to incorporate this them into your wedding day, as well as showing some already finished results. I hope you like them.

Inspiration Board: Vintage decor ideas

To be honest this was a real easy board to put together, there is so much choice out there at the moment, the whole wedding world seems to have gone vintage mad……….Hope you like it!
