What I love about this shoot is the incredible lighting and the soft feminine editing added to the images. They are all very simply but very dreamy and ethereal at the same time. The whole team worked well to create a beautiful set of images for the model  Natalie Jayne , who I’m sure is over the moon with them.

The shoot – February 2012
‘Natalie Jayne, the model for this shoot, contacted me after she has seen my work on my Silvery Moon Photography Facebook page.  Natalie Jayne has been modeling for some time, but had always worked with male photographers in the past and wanted some of my more feminine images to enhance her work portfolio.  Natalie Jayne makes her own fabulous “Steampunk” jewelry and loves the sub-culture associated with it, so I knew I could give her pictures a bit of an edge…. Hence the amazing star-tipped false eyelashes that I sourced especially for her!!’

Make Up
Shane Bell has trained and worked as a MUA for all the major cosmetic houses, including Clarins, Mac and Illamasqua.  He is now about to embark on a career as a freelance MUA, specializing in Bridal and photographic make up. Shane can be contacted on 07412 112 865.

Hair
Emma Faulkner was the hairstylist. Originally from Brighton, Emma now works in Leeds and specializes in wedding and Event hair styling.  Emma can be contacted via her page on Facebook “Wedding & Even Hair styling” or by calling 07904 977 589.

The wonderful flowers were supplied by the very lovely Ruth Wilde at Daisy Creative who is based in the quaint village of Haworth. Ruth has been in the floristry business for several years now .

I’ve found my style pretty early on …. I love to document weddings with reportage photography, capturing those amazing moments as they happen….. it’s more like telling the story of the wedding.  I like to get to know my Bride & Groom’s before the wedding, I think it’s important to understand what they want and to find out about their individual personalities, so this can shine through in the images…..as a result I get choked up at every wedding I document!

I have the same approach to my other passion, Boudoir Photography.  I like to get to know my ladies prior to the shoot and we will chat on the phone and exchange lots of texts and e-mails.  It’s important they feel relaxed and comfortable, as it will show in the final images. I like soft, romantic images and use a lot of focal depth in my Boudoir photography.  I focus on detail and make the most of features like amazing eyes.  Boudoir is very liberating and great for all shapes and sizes … whether you are size zero or size sexy! I work from my Home studio near Haworth, West Yorkshire.

The shoot is so soft, simply and romantically put together, I just love it! The images have a dream like quality, beautiful and so tastefully done! the results are just breathtaking! I’m sure you will agree?

I asked Gabby about her thought process and what made her put the shoot together. ‘The shoot started like something completely different. I wanted to organize a styled bridal shoot somewhere outside, but at last minute, the weather went all Nordic and I decided to tone down my idea for now and do a bridal boudoir shoot instead. Looking at these images now, my philosophy that everything happens for a reason just proved itself again and I couldn´t be happier with the results! My beautiful Jeanne was the perfect model, the gorgeous headpieces of Jannie Baltzer brought the images to another level and I´m utterly satisfied and happy that I´ve managed to capture such beauty’

Nicky has been a friend of mine for over 15 years now, she knows more about me than my own mother does! I even played hair dresser for her on her wedding day! so it has been an absolute privilage  to post these pictures of her! I personally think she looks stunning and hope that one day I can do a shoot like this. (any excuse for me to get infront of the camera)

Be brave… be Boudoir

Last year, a friend of mine introduced me to the hottest new bridal craze, the Boudoir photoshoot. If you’ve never heard of this, try and visualize a present that would get your man practically dancing down the aisle as he thinks he’s about to marry the next Cindy Crawford. It’s a photo-shoot designed to make you look your absolute best…in your absolute skimpiest.

I booked my shoot about 9 months ago through the amazing and award winning Nicola Grimshaw Mitchell of Bury, Lancashire and spent at least 8 of those months stressing about my bingo wings and doing bicep curls with tins of baked beans. Despite the reassuring words on the website and the unbelievable before and after photo gallery, I just couldn’t stop worrying that my rapidly growing eye bags and expanding cellulite was going to be too much for the airbrush to handle…

The night before my 9 am shoot I literally couldn’t sleep a wink. Having furtively sneaked £100 worth of new La Senza lingerie in to my car, I drove to Nicola’s in the most terrifying state of the day- minus make up. On arrival, Nicola greeted me with a huge heart warming smile and instantly made me feel like this might be something I’d be able to do. The talented Michelle Sisson took control of my hair and make up- taking note of the fact I wanted a vintage glam look, she completed the look with false eyelashes and red hot lippy.
Make up done, it was time to get in to my stockings and suspenders. Believe me, at 10am on a rainy Manchester morning, the thought of baring all seemed less appealing by the minute! Nicola helped me with those pesky back suspender clips and we were ready to go! Spending the time positioning me to eradicate double chins and directing me like a pro, Nicola had me relaxed and posing away in no time. We got through three outfit changes and I didn’t even flinch when she suggested the last few shots would be better in the nude!

I spent a couple of hours in Nicola’s cosy home and loved every minute of it. The hardest part however was yet to come… the 7 – 10 day wait to see the pics! After checking my blackberry manically for a week, the much anticipated email popped in to my inbox containing the link to my very own online gallery. I don’t think I could have logged on any quicker if a date with David Beckham depended on it. When the gallery loaded and the first picture came up, I almost had to do a double take. I honestly couldn’t believe it; it looked like me but with flawless skin, no trace of dimply thighs and hair that could star in its own shampoo advert. I am so proud of them; I emailed all my girlfriends the link immediately and revelled in their gasps of amazement.
The hard book copy arrived last week and it’s taken all my reserve not to thrust it under my fiancés nose as he sits and play’s games on his phone. But I’ll wait… it’s going to be the best wedding present he could ever hope for… and one that I can look back on in 20 years and realise how hot I was!

Kat to me is the queen of wedding blogging, she brings a fresh and new approach to the wedding industry, sharing with us fabulous Rock and Roll inspired weddings, for those of us looking for something a step away from the norm!
For those of you that follow Kat’s Blog regularly you will know that she loves her Vintage shoots and her special Boudoir shoots. On 6th January she was the envy of us all, as she got to have her picture taken in a special Vintage Boudoir shoot by the hugely talented Julia Boggio.
Julia has a unique style to her photography, it’s fun, fresh, and has a certain cinematic quality to it, not surprising as her family history is that of photographers and artists, even her Husband is a filmmaker!
Julia creates works of art in her wedding photography, but different to anything I have seen in any other, an amazing talent!

Kat has been generous enough to let me share this shoot with you, and I am more than happy to spread the Love for Both Miss Rock ‘n Roll Bride and Julia Boggio

Julia is friends with Kat and asked her personally to do the modeling for her new Vintage Boudoir series as you can imagine Kat was more than happy to help out, who wouldn’t? Kat got a full 1940’s makeover for each shot and all the clothes were supplied. The make up and hair was different for each shot which was made possible by Sev Hubert the hairdresser and Kaz Fernando the makeup artist

Julia explains. ”We design each look in our style book and then source the props and outfits needed to create the image. Our seamstress hand makes the majority of our costumes. The rest are either sourced from shops or they are genuine vintage pieces. If the client would like to do a look that we don’t have the props or outfits for, she is more than welcome to bring her own things. We can even direct her to places she can look for props.”
The pin-up look is so much more erotic than a lot of modern boudoir, which often shows too much. Pin up is all about tantalising the viewer with what’s being covered up, but saying ‘I’m cheeky and sexy’ in the expression..” Julia says “My team of hair and make-up professionals create the classic pin-up look with every client. After they’ve been given their makeover, including sweeping false eyelashes, they go into wardrobe, where they get into their hold ups and choose a costume, We have loads of costumes and props to suit different body shapes and sizes. The great thing about this style is that everyone can look sexy, whether you’re a size 4 or 24.”

After your shoot there are various ways you can display your images, Julia says “Clients have a range of ways that they can display their images, from small desk frames to large-format acrylics. When we were creating a product range to go with Vintage Boudoir, we decided that this isn’t the kind of gift you give to hide away in your husband’s drawer. This is tasteful, colourful, fun and sexy. It should be a part of your interior design.”

Anyone can have their own Vintage Boudoir shoot by Julia, can you imagine anything more fantastic for a wedding or valentines present?? The shoot costs £455 and includes hair and make-up, as well as at least two different costume changes, false eyelashes and a pair of vintage stockings. A fantastic idea and your husband/finance gets too enjoy the end result as well!!

I personally think the whole idea is fabulous, I have already told my husband that I want to do one, and if I drop enough hints you never know what I may get for my birthday in March!!!
