Anna has been kind enough to put some words together about her relationship with Ross and about the shoot.

My partner Ross and I embarked on our wonderful journey of love, laughter and adventures just over 10 years ago, after meeting at university in Liverpool.  Instantly we feel in love and knew that one day we would start a family and grow old together. I remember when Ross first said “I love you” underneath the lamplight in Pilgrim Street and the realization of what it meant to meet your soul mate.

Throughout the past decade we have been on many adventures together, sky diving in New Zealand, taking our first surf in Byron Bay and learning to snowboard. Along the way there have been tears of joy and sorrow, but no matter what, through the good times and the bad times we know that the rainbows of life will always follow the storms.

We are both creative souls and we nurture and inspire each other. While Ross strums his guitar and sings I will while away the hours making weird and wonderful creations.  We both love the ocean, the majesty of the waves and the sun’s rays shimmering on the surface of the water and the peace and tranquillity of the hinterlands.

Our ceremony will take place in the beautiful setting of JC Slaughter Falls, Mt Coo-tha, Brisbane, on 30th June 2012.  We feel a spiritual connection to this location, where symphonies of sounds emanate from the birds, wind, water and passers-by, you can find peace and re-connect with nature away from the confines of the city and the history and passage of time can be read from the stories ingrained into the bark of the trees.

As soon as we meet with Sarah and saw the stylistic quality of her work, we knew she was the photographer we wanted to work with. Sarah did an amazing job of capturing our essence, our love for each other and incorporating the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Shaggy Boho

Now I may have made this name up, but the shaggy Boho is bang on trend (yes I did just say that!) wearing your hair loose and natural at your wedding is becoming more popular, no fuss, no major styling, just shaggy and natural. There are lots of variations on this look, you can add in a braid, you can pull some hair back, wear it curly, my favorite is to wear a flower garland with it. So if you like the more natural look and you want to show off your long locks then this is the style for you

Today am I glued to my computer as I have been all weekend as I am off to London on Wednesday for the Wedding Industry Awards where I am up for Wedding Planner of the year! (eek wish me luck!) I will be in London for 5 days catching up with friends and family and will be joined by Nik and a couple fo friends on the saturday and Sunday as we celebrate my friend Karls birthday! It was sent into me by Amy Stanley from Style By Design who is an Interior designer/graphic Designer/Wedding Stylist based in Virginia (USA).
I’ll pass the blog over to Amy to explain a little bit more behind the shoot and how it all came about

Why
‘I did this shoot for a few different reasons. First off, I love to work with different vendors from this area to see what kind of talent is around and so I can provide my brides with a high quality vendor list. I also like to promote the vendors who have really helped me along the way. I also want to inspire brides to step out of the box a little bit and learn that weddings don’t have to be so super traditional…in fact, the more creative they are, the more interesting they become and the more their guests will remember.
Finally, I always like to have fresh work coming from the studio…something that is going to grab a potential client’s eye. It’s hard to be so creative with actual weddings because brides rarely let you take the reins on the creative side. This is why I aim for 3-4 styled shoots every year’

What
‘I did A TON of DIY projects for this shoot. I’ve been collecting vintage frames and candlesticks at thrift stores over the past year because I had this vision in my head of a bohemian rustic wedding. In order to make the thrift items fit together, I spray painted everything the same colour…different designs in the same colour organized vintage chaos. I also spent DAYS cutting out individual paper feathers to use as escort cards and as the napkin ties on the table. I also created the Mr & Mrs. sign for the chairs as well as the Love Birds sign…both of which I hope to use as rentals!! In addition to the vintage & DIY pieces, I also used Jamestown Glass artefacts and pheasant feathers. The feathers were a uniting theme…used on the table, as escort cards, in the invitation suite, and props.’

‘I chose the location because of a photo I’d seen of the covered patio area….I love the idea of doing a reception under one at some point in my career. They also have a super rustic wine cellar and other really amazing areas for photo opportunities.’

Yay! It’s Christmas….well not quite yet, but it is getting there! As you may well know I have been planning on putting on a little Christmas party for those of us who are self employed and run our own business who don’t normally get to go on a Christmas works night out. Working for yourself has it’s benefits but at Christmas time it can seem a bit of a lonely place while all of our friends with ‘normal’ jobs head off for numerous office nights out.

This year is going to be different though as just for you I am putting on ‘The Big Boozy Boho Christmas Bash!’

So today thanks to my lovely friend Lucy from Lucy ledger Designs I bring you full details and the invitation to the Event!

I didn’t think a Christmas party would be a Christmas party without a Secret Santa so I am asking every guest to bring with them a Secret Santa present to be distributed amongst everyone at some point through the night, the present is to be unisex and priced at about £5.

The emphasis of the night is to party, have fun, and drink way to much!! This isn’t a networking event, a tweet up or a Soiree,  this is simply a Christmas Party, no fuss….just fun!

The venue can hold 150 comfortably with enough room for us to have a dance, and it is Christmas it’s OK to bring your other halves (unless your’s is like mine and HATES anything wedding related!)

How do you get your Invitation?

Simply email me at kelly@bohoweddingsandevents.com putting Christmas Party in the subject matter and leave me your full name and I will add you to the gusts list. If you are bringing a partner or friend please make sure that only one of you registers as I can’t afford for there to be doubling up on names, places are limited! If for any reason through the process you apply and then find that you can not make it please let me know so I can then invite others to come.

A couple of weeks ago I announced with great trepidation that I had decided to host a Christmas works night out for all wedding industry people who don’t normally get to go to a Christmas Party as they are self employed or don’t work in a normal office environment.

I was pretty blown away by the response……….you lot really love a party! So I have been of on my search around Sheffield to find you a venue and fix a date!

Now I have to admit it hasn’t been easy, Sheffield isn’t renowned for its amazing variety of venues, and as I was looking for it in Christmas month it made life even harder. BUT I have found somewhere, it’s completely private, it’s in the city centre! Proper invitations are in the process of being designed but in the mean time may I invite you to;

Now I appreciate there will be some people this date isn’t suitable for, but I have chosen a week night as so many of you work in the industry will still be tied up with weddings at the weekend, especially at Christmas.
So as I said formal invitations will be ready in the next couple of weeks and then I will be asking you to all register to receive your personal invite

Well hello you lovely lot! I am SO excited as today is the launch of the Boho Blog Readers Survey!
I am always looking for ways to make the blog bigger better and to make sure it keeps growing and pushing forwards, so I thought it only right to ask you the readers how I can do that.

The Survey is quite short (about 20 questions) and it’s aim is to find out a bit more about you the reader, what you like about the blog (and what you don’t like) and your thoughts on possible articles in the future.

My aim as of Mid October is to blog twice a day in the week, at the moment I post once a day 7 days a week, but I don’t feel this is enough any more. As well as planning beautiful and alternative weddings for people, I also plan events! These can range from wedding fairs, tweet ups to the event I put on a couple of weeks ago, A 21st Birthday Party!
This wasn’t your normal run of the mill Birthday Party though, this was a black tie birthday party set in the parents back garden and one of my favourite events I’ve put on this year!

The mum and dad called me in March to discuss plans they had to put on a party for their daughters 21st Birthday party. They had a few ideas of what they wanted but really needed some clear advice and help with putting it all together.
With the black tie themes, a sit down dinner and a DJ as my foundations to work with, I came up with a Purple and Black theme and got working on finding them the best suppliers to fit the brief! 

As they booked me for full planning I had full rain to call in the suppliers I wanted to use and I felt best fitted the brief they and given me!……….heaven for a planner!!!

I have to say I really enjoyed this event, the whole planning of it, the supplier searches as well as managing the event itself!
It really makes a difference from a planner’s point of view starting work on an event right from the beginning! You don’t walk into someone else’s planning and you don’t work with suppliers that you don’t know.
It was a fabulous feeling on the day of the party that everything was under control as I have brought in suppliers that I knew and trusted.
There was of course a huge amount of responsibility because everyone the parents had booked had come from my recommendation! 

The party took place in Sheffield in the parents back garden! Their house is just outstanding, but a very warm and lived in home at the same time!
I hired in a 12m x 12m marquee with a covered walkway (just in case it rained) It actually turned out to be a beautiful summers evening, which made the evening even more perfect! 

We wanted to stay away from a wedding feeling with the marquee so we used white walls with purple up lighters, a black carpet and full black star cloth ceiling! Which looked stunning. Table clothes were black with purple taffeta runners and matching napkins, finished off with phantom/ghost chairs which looked fabulous, with lanterns and tea lights on the tables for decoration!

The party began at 6.30pm with the door men arriving at 6pm they were given the guest list of 86 guests to check off and to make sure that no one turned up that wasn’t invited!

Welcome drinks were served from 6.30 -7.30 while the guest enjoyed live music in the garden.
At 7.30 they were called into the marquee where the dad made a short speech and then dinner was served! Another set from the musicians which was then followed by the DJ.

It was an open bar all night and the bar company put together 6 signature cocktails, all of which went down a storm!
After dinner a few more speeches and then a slide show of child hood photos (to totally embarrass and surprise the birthday girl!) and then the night really began with the party in full swing and the DJ in his element!

All in all an amazing event, that I thoroughly enjoyed!
I’d like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone that I worked with, you all made the night perfect! I couldn’t fault anyone at all you were all amazing!

So once I’d got myself ready for the party (which seemed to take all afternoon) Sassy and I took a little walk around Oxford street and found a few spots to take some relaxed shots. It was great to be able to smile as the last shoot I did with Sassy I had t be very stern and serious!. The whole shoot only took 10 minuets, I had loads to choose from but didn’t want to bore you all with to many.
I now have some new shots to add to my website and blog….no more corporate clip board for me!!…………….Thanks Sassy!!!

The last thing I wanted to do was start to advertise when my readership wasn’t at the right level and my blog wasn’t  well enough known. I set myself a target and after hitting that target week after week, and with a strong and loyal readership I feel I can now go forward and put paid sponsorship onto the blog.

The back end of the blog is ready to go, with a new layout set up to add in the advert buttons when the sponsors come along. The first adverts will go up on 14th May.
