Boho Pins: The Best of Boho – My Top 10 Terracotta Weddings

Terracotta as a wedding theme is HUGE! With the growth of Boho, terracotta has been pushed out into the wedding world as THE hottest colour way, and I am seeing this colour pallet everywhere, which to be honest is no bad thing! Terracotta is very versatile, it can be used in every aspect of your wedding from the bridesmaids to the cake, the signage, stationery, flowers, just about everywhere! Today I am looking back at some of my favourite weddings on the blog in this weeks Boho Pins feature, all of which have featured terracotta in them. A stunning collection of weddings, all of which will give you a big dose of boho style inspiration.

Ask The Experts: 8 Ways to Include Your Kids in Your Wedding

The argument of having children at your wedding will roll on and on for ever more. Some people believe a wedding wouldn’t be a wedding withought kids running around causing a ruckus! While other people believe kids should be left at home, so the adults can celebrate and really let their hair down. However, relationships have moved on, many people have already had children by the time they get married, so leaving your own children at home isn’t really an option. Today we are looking at ways you can involve your own children in your wedding planning, making sure they feel part of the big day as much as you do. Use this simple guide to include your kids in your wedding, regardless of age.

8 Ways to Include Your Kids in Your Wedding

1. Let Them Pick Their Clothes

You and your partner will carefully pick the clothes you’ll wear down the aisle, but what about your kids? You could include them in their wardrobe options by asking for their opinions.

Let them browse some ideas you like so they pick what they’ll wear. They’ll get excited about getting dressed up, so you won’t have to wrestle them into their fancy clothes before the ceremony.

2. Ask for Menu Suggestions

The catering team handling your reception meal will serve your favorite foods after you say your vows. You might look forward to the prosciutto bites or lamb meatballs, but your kids may not enjoy foods they don’t recognize.

Let them choose a few options for their personalized kid’s menu. Everyone will get to eat what they love most and you’ll gain options for young guests with food allergies. Research shows that 4% of kids have food allergies compared to 1% of adults. Ask for allergens on your RSVP cards and use the kid’s menu to add allergen-free items young ones will adore, like gluten-free mac and cheese or peanut-free trail mix.

Ask The Experts: 5 Things You Should Do to Have a Green Wedding

Eco-friendly and Green weddings are becoming increasingly popular. Retailers and vendors are offering sustainable options for everything a wedding entails, which is great news if you are looking to do your bit for the planet while planning your wedding. While traditions are honourable, waste and carbon emissions aren’t, your wedding is such a big event, so making it eco friendly and kind to the environment is a massive way to help save the planet. Today we will explore some things that make weddings more eco-friendly and simple things you can do to have a green wedding.

5 Things You Should Do to Have a Green Wedding

1. Go Paperless With Invites

Digital invitations are an excellent way to be kinder to the environment. Not only do they reduce the paper trail, but they also eliminate the emissions from vehicles during delivery transportation. Many online sites offer ways to create gorgeous wedding invitations with various design templates to download and distribute virtually. Social media sites provide ways to create groups that make it easier to spread the word about events and keep an appropriate headcount of guests.
If virtual invitations aren’t conducive to the guests, eco-friendly options are available. Recyclable paper, wood, leather and upcycled fabric are some creative ways to offer invitations for guests. Some companies plant trees in honor of purchases or use seed-infused paper to give back to the planet. Consider including a digital RSVP that allows guests to text or email to respond to invitations to minimize travel emissions and shorten the paper trail. Don’t forget about thank you cards for after the wedding as well.

2. Choose an Eco-Friendly Venue

An eco-friendly venue can reduce waste and carbon footprints. Green venues often take the initiative to be kinder to the environment in ways couples may not consider when planning weddings. For example, energy usage plays a significant role in most weddings. Locales can be energy efficient by using smart thermostats and LED lighting.
Environmentally friendly venues with energy-efficient windows or solar panels reduce carbon emissions from power plants, which contributes to a healthier environment. Event spaces that have larger windows offer more natural light that conserves energy. Choosing a local and smaller location decreases travel and energy consumption as well.

Thomas and Lai’s Autumn Wedding in Tuscany with Accents of Pomegranate and Terracotta by Love Folio Photography

When you think of Autumn weddings you may often think of cold, leaf covered venues, muted tones and possibly a Halloween or thanksgiving theme. However today’s Autumn wedding comes from Tuscany where it is still lovely and warm and the late summer sun is still glowing in the sky. So rather than muted tones, today’s wedding is bursting with colours. Lai and Thomas were married on 8th October 2022 at Il Grande Prato in Tuscany. They held a gorgeous outdoor ceremony followed by an alfresco reception and what gorgeous decoration they had. Accents of Pomegranate and Terracotta were chosen for the decoration and the beautiful flowers and made this wedding so bright and cheerful. Big thanks to Love Folio Photography for capturing the day for us.
