Diary of a Boho Bride – Kirsten and Chris. Entry 7 ‘Buy It, Use It, Break It, Make It’ The Photo Booth

diary of a boho bride

Hi everyone, Kelly C here. Today we are back with Kirsten and Chris for their seventh instalment as a Boho Bride. Last time Kirsten talked about the subject of lists and candles.  Today is the subject of ‘Buy It, Use It, Break It, Make It’. Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to Kirsten as I made some candles over the last week after reading her post and they came out fantastic! I can’t show you until after the 25th but I promise to post some pictures in the New Year.

I’ll pass you over to Kirsten……..

It’s nearing Christmas. Consequently, my days are ramajammed with friends, family, shopping and Christmas films (especially The Muppets Christmas Carol). As every year goes by, the amount of social occasions seem to triple. Not that I’m complaining, I love a good party I do. However, the socialising has left little time to do anything else (including this blog). So apologies for the brevity!

In the last month or so, we have designed everything we want to make. This *may* include (depending on how adventurous we’re feeling): table runners, napkins, games, flags and all graphics. However the one thing we’re definitely making (whether we’re feeling adventurous or not) is our own photo-booth. As daunting as that project sounds, there are several companies online that will sell you the software, tell you exactly what you need and help you with ideas. LOVELY.

Stephanie and Michael’s Boho Inspired Handcrafted Outdoor Wedding. By Delaney Dobson

Well hello Friday! How the devil are you!?! We are so close to Christmas now you can almost touch it! How excited are you?? Dexter is still on the mend from his little trip to the hospital last week so we still haven’t done much with him in terms of taking him out on Christmas related excursions. We have been advised to keep him in and keep him warm to ensure he doesnt get poorly again. For this reason I am feeling slightly less festive than I should be, but excited for next week non the less. I am hoping by Monday it will be OK to take him to see Santa in town and we can start the Christmas celebrations from there!
So today, I have another wonderful wedding, a gorgeous outdoor wedding all the way from New Jersey. The couple Stephanie and Michael created a budget friendly Boho inspired day by creating lots of DIY projects themselves. With rustic decoration, gorgeous dried flowers, a beautiful gown from BHLDN and a wonderful outdoor wedding ceremony, this wedding is bursting with autumn sunshine and goodness. Big thanks to  Delaney Dobson for the images.

‘The wedding was inspired but very budget conscience, with a boho hand-crafted feel’

Stephanie and Michael were married on September 27th 2014 at The Lakeside Clubhouse in Medford, NJ. Ceremony was held outdoors on the clubhouse grounds. ‘It was remote and in the woods, had a rustic cabin feel and was close to the bride’s family. We had 100 guests in total and it took 9 months to plan.’

Older Wiser Married: (Readers Special) Emily and Mitch

older wiser married

For those of you who are regular readers of the blog you will know all about the Older Wiser Married feature. The idea of the feature is for couples who are married to share with you their wedding story and experiences and also the things they would do differently if they could go back and do it again. We also focus on the positives and the things they think really worked, what they have learnt and how their marriage has changed their relationships.

In the past it has been wedding suppliers that have written in about their weddings but today it is a Boho reader special as we welcome Emily and Mitch onto the Blog to tell us all about their wedding earlier on in the year.

Names – Emily and Mitch
Date of wedding – 24th May 2014
Location of wedding and venue – Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield
Number of guests – 80
How long did it take to plan – Booked 18 months in advance and took 12 months to plan.

We chose to get married at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park as it is one of our favourite places to go for walks and picnics. We love the every-changing sculptures and breath-taking scenery and we also really wanted to get married somewhere we could return to and visit whenever we fancied, so as soon as we found out we could get married there, we couldn’t wait to get it booked. And we were not disappointed! We wanted a relaxed, informal atmosphere, complete with DIY details, to share with our closest friends and family. (more…)

Meredith and Brian’s Homespun Music Festival Wedding. By Stacy Paul Photography

Well Hello you lovely lot….Exactly one week today and we will all be celebrating Christmas Day. I am so excited. We have had a real push in our house to get the Christmas jobs done over the past 2 days, so presents are all bought and delivered, cards written and we have made a start on the wrapping! I am feeling a bit less stressed now and feel like we have some sort of plan in place! What about you? Rre you ready?
I have the most gorgeous wedding for you today from blog regular Stacy Paul Photography. This homespun wedding comes all the way from Florida and is absolutely FULL of the most amazing homemade details and DIY projects. Meredith and Brian gave themselves lots of time in the planning to make sure they got all their crafting done and what a fabulous result this wedding is. I just love the venue which is full of personality and charm, all of their vintage props and decorations, the glitter table number, Meredith’s home-made wedding dress, the list just goes on! A full on craft loving wedding that I’m sure you are going to love!

‘I thought people who said their wedding day was the best day of their life were a little overly sappy until I experienced it myself. It was a pure and authentic, a truly beautiful and magical whirlwind of love and I want to relive it over and over again.’

Meredith and Brian were married on 11th October 2014 at The Hitching Post Barn in Brooksville, FL. ‘There were a few components involved in our choice of venue. We had a lot of different ideas we wanted to incorporate into our wedding, and Suzie at The Hitching Post allowed us to be creative in all the ways we desired without putting restrictions on us. We liked that we could use the property for both the ceremony and the reception with the room to hold all of our guests and she even offered a great back up plan if the weather didn’t cooperate. We love the beauty of the outdoors and this venue was able to capture that in such a natural and beautiful way. I think we had around 160 people that ended up attending the wedding and around 6-10 children as well. Our engagement period was just around 18 months as we wanted a fall wedding and I utilized all the time that I had! We were very budget conscious, so it was nice to have the time to shop around for the items we needed at prices that we were comfortable with. A lot of the constructing of DIY items occurred the month or two before hand, but it was nice to have the time to take my time and shop around for the things I wanted over that time period.

Rosie and Kimberley’s Peach and Mint Country Rustic Wedding. By Millie Benbow

So here we are at the mid-point of the week! This time next week it will be Christmas Eve…..how has that creeped up so quickly? Are you ready yet? I know I’m not! Presents are bought but not yet wrapped, the cards aren’t written and I can see the last posting day looming closer and closer. Next year I am going to start planning in November so I don’t get this sense of panic again! Anyhow, I have a gorgeous same-sex wedding for you today from Millie Benbow. Its’ the gorgeous rustic wedding of Rosie and Kimberley, who chose a theme of peach and mint for their country themed wedding. With lots of paper pom poms, outdoor games and a gorgeous venue this wedding is just beautiful, as are the two lovely brides.

‘Surrounded by everyone that we love, alongside feeling completely intimate and in our own little bubble on the hottest day of the year ☺ Exciting and Emotional’

Rosie and Kimberley were married on 24 July 2014 at Deer Park Hall, Eckington, Pershore. ‘When we looked around Deer Park Hall, we walked into the Bredon Room that looks over the Malverns and fell in love with it. Every room was unique and the garden space was amazing, alongside spectacular views. The whole feel of the venue was exciting but calm.. (and Rosie jumped up and down saying ‘I want it I want it’ kinda sealed the deal). We had 80 day guests and 130 evening guests. It took one year of fun planning.’
