Jade & Peter-Neil’s Multicultural Floating Wedding. By 1Chapter Photography

With the truly multicultural mix of family and friends that celebrated with our real wedding bride and groom today, together with the travel theme and the floating reception, this is the real meaning of the phrase, the world and his wife coming to your wedding. What I love about today’s post, sent to us by 1Chapter Photography, is that it’s the perfect mix of closeness and intimacy and big full-on fun. Jade and Peter-Neil’s actual wedding was a very small affair with just two guests, followed by a gathering of nearest and dearest in a rather unconventional but delightful floating wedding reception.

‘A very intimate affair attended by our closest and dearest, it was so unpretentious, rather unconventional and real that after the jittery first hour, Peter-Neil and I were just enjoying ourselves in what was like a somewhat hippie celebration.’

Jade and Peter-Neil were married on the 8th January at Camden Town hall, with their reception on 1st March on The Prince Regent Floating Boater followed by Wedding Breakfast at The Summerhouse in Little Venice, London. “Our ceremony was a very small affair with only our two witnesses as guests. So for the reception, having guests travel from Malaysia, Singapore, China, South Africa, The US, Portugal and France we wanted to make the event more of an experience. We had a few ideas but in the end we decided on a 2 hour canal cruise along Regents Canal would be an unusual “getting to know London” experience for many of our guests followed by lunch at The Summerhouse by the canal.”

A Rustic Laidback Barn Wedding – A Styled Shoot

Today I have a beautiful styled shoot for you. A big thank you to Captured by Katrina for this lovely submission which took place at the end of January – you could be mistaken for thinking it was much warmer weather! The venue is the gorgeous Moat House in Dorsington just outside Stratford-upon-Avon and it’s all thanks to the collaboration of some really quite clever and talented wedding suppliers. I love the earthy, rustic feel and the use of lots of mismatched props and antique pieces to create a very natural look. Passion for Flowers have a huge talent and it’s plain to see in this effortlessly beautiful shoot. Over to Katrina…

This shoot is a rustic, laid back barn wedding, using natural fibres, wild flowers and quirky styling for the bride and groom, to mirror the rustic theme.

“I was really keen to do a styled shoot over the winter months and when I was put in touch with a brand new venue that was opening – The Moat House – the stunning barn they were renovating seemed the perfect place to do it. I started to get in touch with some local suppliers, all of whom had fantastic ideas and were fully on board with heaps of energy and creativity from the beginning. I love looking at styled shoots on blogs, but I was aware that they can sometimes be a little unachievable for the average bride, unless they have hundreds of hours to travel round antique shops and flea markets to achieve a similar look. I wanted to do a shoot that our couples could easily copy using suppliers and products that you can buy off the shelf and help them achieve a look that so many of them are desperate to achieve – a rustic theme – but sometimes struggle to do exactly as they had imagined.

Samantha & Simon’s Duck Egg Blue DIY Wedding. By Claire Penn Photography

Hello everyone, it’s Kelly here, how are you all? I’ve popped back to the blog today, as I have a very special wedding to share with you. It’s the wedding of Boho Bride Samantha, who has been writing for the Diary of a Boho Bride. She married her now lovely husband Simon in May and today I am delighted to be able to share the photos of this amazing wedding with you. It was lovely having Samantha write for the blog, she really embraced her role as a Boho bride, so I thought it only apt that I put together this wedding myself and give Bran the day off.

Samantha was lucky enough to have Claire Penn along to photograph her beautiful day and Claire, as ever, has done a wonderful job. She had a great subject matter though as both Samantha and Simon look absolutely stunning, and the wedding itself is gorgeous! If you kept up with Samantha’s diary entries you will know that she carried out a fair amount of DIY projects, all of which can be seen in these photos and the results are amazing. From her bouquet to the table decorations, the favours and all matters of decoration, she really went to town with all her personal projects. The venue is stunning and I’m so pleased that they didn’t let the rain stop their day. I’d like to wish them both a very happy marriage together, it was lovely having them on the blog and I’m over the moon to be able to share their wedding with you.

‘The most stunningly perfect day that was more than we could ever have imagined. It was definitely the best day of our lives so far in the most gorgeous setting filled with so much love and happiness.’

Samantha and Simon were married on Saturday 10th May at Abbeywood Estate in Delamere. “We decided very early on that a hotel venue wasn’t for us, we wanted somewhere extra special with an outdoors feel to it. Originally we were considering getting married in Italy but we both worried that some members of our family wouldn’t be able to come if it meant travelling. After weighing up our options – and trying not to feel too sad about not having a gorgeous Italian wedding day! – we started to look nearer to home, which started off as a nightmare! Luckily, when we visited Abbeywood Estate for the first time – in the snow! – we just knew it was the place for us, it was perfect. And stunning! Heather, the wedding coordinator at Abbeywood, was so lovely and painted a stunning picture of what our day could look like. We went home so excited and happy so had to book it ASAP without looking anywhere else, it was just what we were looking for. We wanted to have the ceremony and reception at the same venue and Abbeywood is such a lovely setting to spend the day, everybody loved it. We had 42 daytime guests, we wanted to keep the ceremony small and intimate with only our family and a couple of close friends. In the evening we had about 100 altogether. Having such a small party for the day made it so relaxed and then we enjoyed the partying with all of our evening guests!”

Carrie & Simon’s Humanist Tipi Wedding. By Becky Ryan Photography

There’s nothing traditional about today’s wedding. The bride designed her own tattoo instead of wearing an engagement ring, the wedding was decided upon and organised in just a few short months and Carrie wore three (with an extra one just in case) yes, three dresses. Carrie and Simon’s photographs by Becky Ryan show their true characters and personalities. A barrel of laughs, a barrel (or two) of beers and all their loved ones gathered in tipis for their beautiful, personal humanist celebration.

‘Big fun in big tents fuelled by beer and beef.’

Carrie and Simon were married 10th May at Bakewell Town Hall and then had a humanist ceremony and reception in tipis in Carrie’s parents’ paddock in Hassop, Derbyshire. They then had everybody back for a buffet lunch on the Sunday. “Neither of us are particularly traditional and we really wanted to avoid the standard country house wedding. I had quite a strong idea of what I wanted from the start and although we knew having the wedding at my parents’ house would mean a lot of work, it also saved us money in a lot of ways too. “All in it was about 8 months from deciding to get married to the big day itself. But we had everything planned within about two months, then it was just six months of making stuff!”

Anna & Henry’s Handmade Vintage Wedding. By Kev Elkins

Happy Monday folks, how was your weekend? Did it fly by as quickly as mine did? I spent some of the weekend on board a narrow boat dressed as a pirate (the things I do for friends eh!), which was thoroughly enjoyable if a little dangerous as we dodged the thunder and lightning. Today’s wedding will definitely bring cheer to the grey skies, if there are any where you are. Anna and Henry’s wedding was captured by Kev Elkins and just goes to prove that no matter what the weather, nothing is getting in the way of two people so very much in love.  This wedding is truly homespun, in every sense of the word. Anna made her own dress and lace bolero. I particularly love the origami bouquets and buttonholes too.

‘The best day ever. Exactly the kind of wedding we wanted.’

Anna and Henry were married on the 24th May at Masham Methodist Church with their reception shared with 100 guests at Hill Top Farm in Masham, North Yorkshire. “The venue and the views were incredible, we wanted something a bit different.”
