Danielle and Mike’s Rainy Boho Festival Themed Wedding in The Lake District by Clara Cooper Photography
Happy Monday everyone and how are you all? Did you have a good weekend? Did...
On Monday we took you to New York, Tuesday was East Sussex and today we are jetting you off to Estonia for the lovely wedding of Liisa and Enar, courtesy of Timo Ilves. A lovely wedding filled with Estonian wedding traditions, gorgeous portrait shots, a fab car and lots of pretty baby’s breath and roses as decoration. A simple wedding, that shows you don’t need hundreds of details and decorations to make your day memorable, Love wins the day every time!
Liisa and Enar were married on the 15th of August 2015. The ceremony was held in a small town called Võru at a local culture house “Võru Kannel”. The reception toke place at Setomaa Tourism Farm, Võrumaa county, Estonia. ‘We loved the scenic landscape and beautiful sights and reasonable price. We had around 100 guests and we started planning our wedding about 6 months before.’
How they met
We met thanks to mutual friends. We had been together for 7 years before getting married.
I asked our daughter (at the time 0.5 years old) to hand over the engagement ring on Liisa´s birthday morning.
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We didn’t save on anything, just looked for a reasonable price for everything that we wanted to have.
Why did you choose your photographer?
He was a childhood friend and also very well recommended by local wedding websites.
Liisa´s wedding dress was by Lee Reinula.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
The suit was from Baltman. We didn’t have bridesmaids.
We wanted to have modest and simple decorations.
Traditional Estonian wedding food, which is made up from warm course and cold course. Warm food includes different meats, potatoes, sauerkraut, etc. Cold course has many different salads, marinated dishes and snack foods.
We had Berries-curd cake.
We had some fun, wedding games and dancing.
We made it ourselves.
Most things we did ourselves.
Special Moments or Highlights
Bridal robbery at night when everyone had to grab torches and hike up to a tall tower where she was held. And singing acapella songs during sunset with everyone.
Advice for Other Couples
Take time to plan every small detail of this important day. Make everything the way YOU want it to be, don´t listen to much to others. This is your day.
No surprises, everything went according to the plan.
I am a wedding photographer based in Tartu, Estonia but I also travel for destination weddings across the world. While capturing the wedding day in a photojournalistic story-telling manner, I love creating dramatic portraits, using available light and complex flash systems. When photographing a wedding day, I’m trying to capture the couples story in most authentic way for them. When needed I step in as producer to give the couple and wedding party guidance to set the scene for beautiful images. My images vary from bright and airy to vibrant and contrasting, depending of the personal preference of the couple.
