Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and braving this horrible very un-summery weather we are currently having. It has been very windy and rainy up here in Sheffield, not what you would expect for June, so I have been busing myself looking at holiday options for next year. If any of you can recommend a good family friendly hotel/resort about 2 hours flight from the UK, then please send your recommendations my way! Moving on to today’s real wedding and it’s a beautiful barn wedding in Oxfordshire. The wedding has a pretty pale pink and navy theme with lots of vintage inspired decorations. So many wonderful details and styling ideas, and as for the food truck for the evening reception……Oh yes! very nice! Big thanks to Kirsty from This and That Photography for the wonderful images.

Vintage Inspired Pink and Navy Barn Wedding in Oxfordshire by This and That Photography

Melissa and Matthew were married on the 9^th July 2016 in a ceremony at St Marys Church Kidlington, and followed at a reception at Stratton Court Barn, Stratton Audley in North Oxfordshire . ‘Melissa’s parents got married at this church and she was christened there. The reception we chose because it was perfect, Karin was amazing. We had 70 Day guests and 190 in the evening. The wedding took 8 months to plan.’

How they met
We met at work, after 3 months we finally made it official. We have not been together 7 ½ years.

The Proposal
Matthew took me to a spa for my birthday, Flowers, champagne and choc covered strawberries got delivered to the room, I felt very special. I then realised I had left my stuff down stairs in the spa. Off I went to get my stuff only to come back to Matthew setting up his phone and propping it up on the table. This I found very strange I asked what he was about to film (haha). He then told me I had yet another gift under my pillow (I love gifts so I rushed to grab it) only to find a ring sized box. As I was opening Matthew had gotten down on one knee asking me to be his wife. I seriously can’t remember how many times I asked him if he was joking. I couldn’t be happier, I danced round the room on cloud nine. The proposal was then followed by an amazing dinner.

How did you allocate your budget?
Most of our money went on entertainment as we wanted our guests to enjoy the day.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Splurged on entertainment, we tried to save on food.

Why did you choose your photographer?
Our photographer was AMAZING!!! This and That photography were at a friends wedding and the photos were amazing and Kirsty was sooo friendly.

The Dress
Dress was by Benjamin Roberts from Butterfly Bridal. Along with my veil and shoes.

The Suit and Bridesmaids
Suit was from Ted Baker & bridesmaid dresses were from ASOS

Theme or Colour Scheme
Our theme was vintage as it was in an old barn. With a pink and navy colour scheme.

Flowers
Peonies and roses.

Decoration
Vintage style decorations- old suitcases, Bunting, lights, Old pallet with the day schedule on it, Old ladders for table plan and another with photos of our family who couldn’t be with us.

Food
Canapés on arrival, Anti-pasti for starter – chicken and new potatoes for main – Wedding cake for desert.
Steak & frites in the evening out in the courtyard & a strawberries and cream bike!

Wedding Cake
We had a naked cake as both myself and Matthew are not big fans of icing. A good friend Karen Crawford made this.

Entertainment
We had a guy in the courtyard singing with his guitar. He then joined the rest of his band for the evening entertainment. Whilst having dinner Matthew surprised me with singing waiters, they were phenomenal. For my father daughter dance we had a guy come and play a saxophone.

Personal Touches
We had a collage of photos of us form when we first got together hanging on a wooden ladder. I made & decorated our flower pots for the table flowers.

Special Moments or Highlights
My special moment was saying I do to my best friend and love of my life. Having our baby girl there was sooooo special to us. Highlight was the singing waiters.

Advice for Other Couples
Take your time planning your special day, its such a magical day that goes so so so quickly, you blink and the day is nearly over. Have fun with your day and make it special for you both. I wish I could do it all over again.

Biggest Surprise
My biggest surprise was the singing waiters and maybe the fact I wasn’t that late to the church.
Matthew’s was that the weather was Perfect!
