Scott and Faith’s Music Loving, Pale Blue and Peach Tipi Wedding by James Green Photographer

Today our real wedding is taking us to Bath, for the awesome wedding of Scott and Faith. It’s a wonderful day full of so much love, laughter and amazing music. After choosing a rustic theme, with a colour scheme of pale blue and peach they booked their Tipi and went about creating lots of handmade projects. Luckly for Scott and Faith they have lots of musical friends, including Lianne La Havas, all who offered to play for them, so the dance floor was packed all night! I just love Scott and Faith outfits and their overall wedding looks, super cool, but laid back and pretty at the same time. Big thanks to James Green Photography for the lovely images.

A uniquely beautiful day, full of music, joy, tears and promise. Better than we ever could have hoped for.

Scott and Faith were married on the 14th August 2016 at St Luke’s church, Wellsway, Bath, followed by a reception in Rustic Tipis at ‘the homestead’ Plough Lane, Marston – a friend’s family home and grounds. ‘We liked St Luke’s church as it is very light and airy inside. We wanted the wedding to feel uplifting and celebratory. We were lucky enough to involve many musical friends, from opera singers to gospel style worship, and our faith is very important to us both, so St Luke’s was the perfect venue. The homestead was a gorgeous setting for our rustic tipis. We wanted a relaxed setting that was also extra special and lent itself to our festival style evening entertainment. The tipis were just an amazing space to begin with. And nestled in a quiet country lane really felt like we’d escaped the city and civilisation. Our kind friends lent us their garden by their family home (complete with stables) to set up in. We had around 160 guests and the wedding took 7.5 months to plan.’

How they met
We met at a house party, after Scott had moved in with a friend of mine 6 years ago. We have been together 3 years in total.

The Proposal
It was Christmas Day evening 2015, and Scott was expected at my parents’ house for an evening drink. When I opened the door in a scruffy jumper, whilst sucking a throat sweet, I saw that he was looking especially smart, in a suit jacket and nice shoes.  He proceeded to hand me a golden cracker after a long search for the porch light switch, and when we pulled it there was my gorgeous 1930s aquamarine and diamond engagement ring that he had chosen.  Apparently he had even adapted the cracker by reinforcing my side so I would win the pull. He then got down on one knee, said some lovely things and asked if I would be his wife, with a tear or two.  I said yes! We went into the lounge to surprise my parents with the news and cracked open a bottle of Moët to celebrate.

How did you allocate your budget?
The tipis took a large portion of the budget, Followed by food, drink (we stocked our own bar), amenities such as porta-loos, my dress and bridal party attire, invitations, and a million more small things.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
The tipis were a big spend. Bridal parties clothes were fairly economical (bridesmaids dresses only £15 each from House of Fraser sale).

Why did you choose your photographer?
We’d known James and his work for a few years (Scott had worked with him on a music video shoot) and were set on having him photograph our day.  We both love his style, how he captures moments and the way he edits. We enjoy his alternate style and the original ideas that he has. The quality of his work is outstanding

The Dress
My dress was from Flossy and Willow. Shoes Moda en pelle and my flowers and wreath were from Article in Bath

The Suit and Bridesmaids
The suit was from ASOS and the Bridesmaids dresses from House of Fraser

Theme or colour scheme
We had a rustic theme, and were working with pastel blues, peaches and natural colours and hessian

Flowers
I had a wild bouquet with different roses, cornflowers, and plenty of wild greens

Decoration
Rustic and simple. We had vintage bottle on the tables, with sprays of gypsophila and foliage.

Food
We had Hot Sharing platters from Vaughans kitchen: Chicken and chorizo in wine sauce. Filo pastry parcels, Minted lamb with rosemary, Seasonal vegetables and potatoes

The Wedding Cake
The cake was made by my Uncle Jonathan, a chef. We had two layers of fruit cake and even a blue layer of blueberry sponge

Entertainment
We had a few friends play some music, about 5 acts from our local friends and a special appearance from ‘Lianne La Havas’. Followed by our friend Lewis Dj’ing later in the evening

Stationery
We had designer and friend Elaine Tregaskis (‘the hand studio’) design our save the dates and invitations.

Personal Touches
We made the wedding favours ourselves out of clay and glazed them. So everyone had a tiny blue owl to take away. My dad was even painting the eyes on them the day before.

Special Moments or Highlights
We went for photos with James at Farleigh Hungerford castle. This was a special hour or so, as we had quality time together and let the day just sink in, whilst letting James work his magic.

Advice for Other Couples
We wrote down a brain storm/ mind map of different areas we needed to focus on, and then drew smaller things coming off each subject- breaking our giant list into manageable chunks. Don’t get too hung up on the small details.

Biggest Surprise
We were surprised how much help we got from our amazing friends (and family) in putting the day together.
