Yasmin and Stuart’s Bright and Colourful Pineapple Filled Hampton Court Wedding by Mona Ali Photography
Today the lovely Yasmin and Stuart are sharing their wonderfully bright, colourful and joyful Hampton...
Happy Monday everyone! After a wonderful weekend spent with friends and family, I am bursting to get the week started here on the blog. We have a wonderful selection of weddings planned for you, starting with this amazing laid back, outdoor meadow wedding courtesy of Larissa Joice Photography. Ruth and Christopher chose this gorgeous Somerset location as it gave them the chilled out wedding that they wanted. With all of their friends and family helping out they manged to plan the whole day in just 5 months and filled it with homemade decoration, a wonderful picnic, a delicious cake table, a heartfelt ceremony and some amazing portrait pictures, including lots of colour with some smoke bombs. This is a truly boho wedding, filled with a whole lot of love.
Ruth and Christopher were married on the 28th June 2016 at Vallis, Frome, Somerset. ‘It was local and lovely and totally us. We had 80 guests and the wedding took 5 months to plan.’
How they met
In a scrap yard in Ibiza looking for furniture!
We were walking in our special forest, Where we went camping in our campervan Silvio for the first time when we got together. We happened upon a circle of trees and it felt sacred and magical. Chris got down on one knee. He had asked permission of My dad before too!! I cried said yes. then our first step we found a horse shoe on the ground right next to us. We’ve kept it as our good luck charm for life!!
How did you allocate your budget?
In total we spent around £6000
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
The marquee was thousands and we didn’t really need it as the weather was good.. we couldn’t risk it though. We asked everyone to bring there own picnic to share, so we saved on catering and provided jam jars of tea and cakes.
Why did you choose your photographer?
She was recommended to us by another great photographer we wanted that couldn’t make it. We LOVED her work and her..she was perfect.. didn’t miss anything.. and we didn’t even know she was there.. then she also helped hold it all together.. so happy Larissa Joice was our Photographer!!!
My dress was from Lyn Ashworth
The Suit and bridesmaids
The suit was from Jigmat Couture. The Bridesmaids bought their own.. I just wanted them in long plain to the floor in their favourite colour.
Theme or Colour scheme
Colour Bright!!! It’s a celebration!!
Sunflowers and lillies, for the bridal party and we picked the local wild flowers for the reception
Wild Flowers, Prayer flags and lace bunting
Bits of everyone’s picnic.. didn’t think to pack our own!
We asked a selection of the ladies to bake their favourite and we had a cake table.. like a deli counter. It was lush! The actual wedding cake was made by Ruth’s mum, its her favourite since she was small -Bakewell tart with Cream and berries on top.
Friends and loved ones that are musicians played and sang. We also had Toffee the Horse making pony rides (he had his hair plated especially). Face painting and a treasure hunt for the kids.. they were super happy running around the fields
We made our own.
We wrote our own vows and made up our own ceremony. We intended to do what we could ourselves..We made our own invites. We did all the decorating ourselves.. family and friends came the day before and we all made it together. We had compost loos.
Special Moments or Highlights
The Ceremony, seeing Chris’ face. Seeing all our loved ones together just for us.. blessing our marriage.. everyone all loved up. My sisters and brother singer to us a song they had written about us especially!! Was incredible and Hilarious!!!
Advice for other couples
For us the ceremony was so important,. we didn’t want just another party to remember with all the rest.. this was about us spending our lives together. We didn’t get really stressed or in debt over the day we stayed focused on what was happening and savored every moment.. its over so fast! We had it low alcohol zone as its not our vibe.
Remember what its all about. YOU both spending your lives together.. make it completely your style.. as you that will always look back on it. Spend the most on the Photographer it’s all you will have to remember it by!
