Rural Weddings – Why Do We Love Them?

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Today I welcome back Lauren from The Deckers Group who will be talking about a rural or rustic wedding theme and why she thinks they are perfect for your wedding! It’s a well known fact that we love a bit of rustic glam here at Boho so I’m eager to hear what she has to say! Tell me, are you going rustic?

I will hand you over to Lauren Hayes, wedding co-ordinator at The Deckers Group

Here at Pennine Manor wedding venue in Yorkshire, we absolutely love guests who completely embrace the rural countryside wedding theme. Even the hardiest of city dwellers love to escape to the country once in a while for some peace and tranquillity. There isn’t anyone who doesn’t feel better after breathing in some country air and being completely surrounded by hills, greenery and trees.

But just why do we love rural weddings so much?

Well to start with, the Yorkshire countryside is some of the most stunning landscape you can hope to see in England, with our wedding couples using the dramatic backdrop as the perfect wedding photography set-up. Our hotel is set upon Scapegoat Hill, just outside of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, with fabulous views all around. In the summer, the long light days work perfectly for a wedding, with plenty of opportunities for photographs outside until late at night. With fabulous rolling hills and wispy clouds on a bright sunny day, even the local horses can drop by to join in a wedding shoot!

In terms of the reception, the summer is perfect because on a warm day we can serve prosecco or cocktails outdoors on the terrace, and on a mild evening guests can take a drink outside after the evening meal to enjoy the vista. In the winter, outdoors photos may be more difficult but this is where we get the indoor fire pit roaring, and use the country interiors to style some beautiful indoor shots. However, even on a crisp bright winter day, with a light scattering of snow on the moors, it can make amazing outdoor wedding photos.

Of course, it’s also important for us to ensure the wedding party has some hot chocolate or mulled wine to warm everyone up when they come back inside. By organising a rural country wedding, it means your guests can really get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside. At Pennine Manor, we have 31 recently refurbished bedrooms, meaning guests can stay on for a number of nights if they want to have a mini-break and explore the area after the wedding.

When planning your wedding, all the elements of the day should reflect who you are as a couple and what you enjoy doing. If getting out into the open countryside is your thing, it’s only natural you should want to incorporate that into your special day. When it comes to planning the theme for your nuptials, the rustic countryside touch never goes out of fashion. With garlands of wild flowers and loose bunches of flowers in jam jars, it’s easy to weave in a naturalistic theme for the table settings and room decoration too.

Last but not least, if you want to arrive in style, here at Pennine Manor, we have a helicopter pad, which will ensure you have that special entrance that no-one is about to forget.
Not every wedding venue can offer you a dramatic helicopter entrance to create a truly unforgettable day!

Everybody is now going for a modern wedding. But, my boyfriend wanted something rustic and unique. After reading this write up, I decided to have a rural theme wedding. My boyfriend was totally impressed with the idea. I thank the author of this write up.

Oh my gosh I think I’m in love with this article. I completely get what you mean about falling in love with the idea of rolling hills on a mild midsummer night, as that is the exact image that springs to my mind when I think of a rustic themed wedding. Maybe it’s all the movies and tv shows I watch (which admittedly feed off cliches) – but there’s just something so quintessentially English about the rural wedding feel. Not to mention I absolutely ADORE the idea of wooden arhces, curtains of fairy lights and wildflowers strewn over the table…it’s all just so perfect! I used to think for my wedding that I’d go for a traditional, extravagant, more ‘manicured’ look, but having seen shots of more ‘countryside’ themed weddings, I’ve decided I’d actually like to go for the more relaxed and rural-esque type of wedding. The only problem is I’m not completely sure about the venue. Ideally I’d love somewhere that reflects the country chic feel of barn weddings under the stars, but as it’s England I’m very cautious about going for the whole marquee/barn vibes – simply because of the weather – as I have been to weddings before where the weather has been so dire that people have left much earlier than they normally would have! Because of this I really feel like a hotel wedding is the way to go – but I want to keep it rural ‘oldy worldly’ so to speak. Do you know of any good places in Warwickshire? I would absolutely love your advice here because I simply adore your blog x
