Courtney and Kirby’s Purple and Green Colorado Barn Wedding By Searching For The Light

Happy Friday everyone and how are you all today? We have been in our new house for a couple of days now and we are slowly getting everything unpacked and it’s beginning to feel like home. Still LOADS to do, but I feel we are getting there! This weekend we are out celebrating Nik’s birthday, after a busy few days of house stuff it will be good to meet up with friends and have some time out from all the boxes.
I am finishing off the week with this gorgeous Colorado Barn Wedding by Emily from Searching For The Light. It’s a lovely rustic day, filled with lots of purple and green details, a beautiful outdoor ceremony and some fab food. The perfect way to end the week.

Courtney and Kirby were married on 9th June 2015 at The Barn at Evergreen Memorial Place in Evergreen, Colorado. ‘We had a total of 120 guests and planning took just over a year’

How they met
We met in college through friends and were really good friends for about 6 months before we even decided it even thought of dating. Thanks God we did. We actually got married on our 5 year anniversary. Makes it easy to remember the date haha.

The Proposal
Kirby asked me in front of my entire family in the backyard I grew up in which was super special :) He actually asked my dad 6 months before asking me which was insane to think that neither my dad nor Kirby slipped up on spilling the secret! Even though Kirby and I had been together almost 4 years at that time I was very much not expecting a proposal at least for the next few months so when I realized what was going on and watched kirby begin to get down on one knee all I could do was say Shut up!!! Like 5 times over haha!! Poor Kirby!! Once the emotions hit me I started balling and hugged Kirby saying YES YES about a thousand times:) once the rest of the family realized what was happening they all rushed down and start snapping pictures. It was quite the perfect night.

How did you choose your photographer
We connected with her not only through her photos, but with her personality as well. She captured real emotion in all her pictures and that was the most important thing to me when trying to decided on a photographer.

The Dress
My dress was by La Sposa from Blue Bridal Boutique. My shoes were Badgley Mischka and my earrings were Givenchy.

The Suit and Bridesmaids
The suits were all Vera Wang and the bridesmaid all had different dress. All the dress were Jenny Yoo except for the Maid of Honor, hers was Adrianna Papell

Theme or Colour Scheme
I am very obsessed with purple, so that was my main colour, but I also focused on greens and some bestirs like tones. I love all colors though so I really wanted to be able to mix colors in without over powering the main look

Flowers
I loooooove wildflowers and with getting married in a barn it had SO much wood. The wildflowers really brightened up everything and brought in the mix of color I was really wanting. We had our arch draped in wild flowers as well and it was absolutely beautiful.

Decoration
We really wanted to keep things pretty simple because the barn itself is already so beautiful with lighting and stain glass windows. We did simple center pieces that had a mix of sizes and shapes of vases that were filled with random wild flowers. We also wanted to have an antique/vintage vibe to the day to bring kind of a chic feel into the outdoorsy barn vibe we had going, and vintage flower played with gold rims was the perfect piece to accomplish that.

Food
We had casual food during cocktail hour such as deviled eggs & mini sliders; which luckily our caterer was kind enough to bring us a plate full during Kirby’s and I’s pictures together. For dinner we did Italian dishes served family style which worked out so well with the dishes set up already.

Wedding Cake
Kirby and I actually both dislike frosting and cake so we decided to skip that all together and serve and assortment of pies with ice cream!

Entertainment
We had an amazing DJ that seriously kept the entire party going all night long. The music was great; so much so it was hard to ever get off the dance floor!

Personal or Handmade Touches
We had lot of little personal touches all throughout the wedding which made the day that much more special to Kirby and I. First and foremost was the collection of vases and plates (big dinner & salad) that were collected from all of our family members. So special that everyone had a piece into the wedding. Our favours to guest were little mason jars full of homemade salsa from Kirby’s dads garden, which was so cool and soooo yummy. One of the most special parts of the wedding though was Kirby’s sister, Jen, who we lost.
