Honeymoon Ideas – Great Places for a Honeymoon with the Children

These days lots of people have children before they get married I see so many weddings on the blog where little ones take centre stage at their mum and dads wedding, creating a really lovely family day. So what does this mean for the honeymoon? If you have tiny babies it’s unlikely you will want to leave them behind for the week or two you are away, and if you have toddlers or children you may want to take them with you for the chance of a family holiday together. Today Tom our resident honeymoon expert is here to give you some great ideas if you are looking to Honeymoon with the Children.

Honeymooning with your kids tagging along isn’t as uncommon as you might think. In fact, there are many couples who choose to do this because a honeymoon makes a great family holiday opportunity; and let’s face it, when you have children, opportunities to take a break are slim. If you don’t want to leave your little one(s) behind after you get married, take a look at these 6 great places to honeymoon with the kids.

Croatia

Croatia has something for everyone; find romance on an island with your newlywed beau or take the kids exploring in Croatia’s national parks – such as Plitvice Lakes, Krka National Park or Kornati National Park. The main cities such as Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar are all very family-friendly but baby changing facilities or child-friendly toilet facilities can be hard to find unless you are in a shopping mall or very contemporary restaurant. But if you’re heading to one of the holiday islands, you’ll find the resorts to be very well equipped for toddlers and babies. There’s no doubting Croatia is a wonderful place for a luxury break, and it suits just as well if you want a family friendly honeymoon to mix with that indulgence.

Botswana

Safari holidays make amazing honeymoons, and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that you don’t want the kids to miss out on either. So if you don’t mind a post-wedding treat with your little monkeys in tow, take them to Botswana to see the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert. Botswana is excellent for game viewing and it’s also home to some of the best family-friendly camps such as Kalahari Plains Camp and Banoka Bush Camp.

Spain

Spain is a great destination if you’re looking for a well-serviced resort. With many years within the travel industry offering holidays to families and groups, you’ll find affordable honeymoon accommodation and family friendly suites in the Costa Del Sol, Costa Brava, Costa Blanca as well as the Canary Islands. For something a little more off the beaten path, head to the Southern region of Andalusia (Seville is incredible) or head inland from Barcelona and explore the beautiful region of Catalonia.

Turkey

For guaranteed great weather, plenty of sightseeing and mouth-watering food, Turkey has to be on your travel bucket list. Luxury beach resorts are abundant along the Turquoise Coast and you’ll find that the locals are extremely welcoming of children, making Turkey an ideal place to honeymoon with your kids. It’s also perfect for an adventure honeymoon break with the kids like this if you want a slightly more hair raising escape. For the most mind-blowing views, be sure to spend a day or two in the resort town of Side. The kids will love it just as much as the grown-ups.

Mauritius

Mauritius is a fantastic place to honeymoon because it’s much, much cheaper than rival destination Seychelles but considered to be just as luxurious and beautiful; and when you’re travelling with children, every little helps.As it is a cheaper destination, you can think of giving your children a bigger allowance to spend on the trip, which you can keep track of with some kind of kids banking apps. Many resorts will combine luxury spa facilities, golfing and facilities for kids so there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.

Greece

The Greek Islands are extremely beautiful and there are so many to choose from that are a great fit for kids and romance. You can really get the best of both worlds by island hopping as the Greek Islands have elements of both old and new; explore the traditional white-washed streets of Santorini, enjoy modern luxury and fine dining on Ios Island, or enjoy a lively party atmosphere on Mykonos. Many resorts will have child friendly facilities and there are plenty of outdoor / watersport activities for the whole family to get involved with.
