Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that you are all rested and now ready for another busy week ahead! Can you believe it’s still January! It’s the month that just keeps going. In a weeks time it will be February and then the year can really get started and it will whizz by before we know it. To start the week off in style we have this beautiful wedding from Anna Hardy Photography that takes place at the Crab and Lobster in North Yorkshire. It’s a wedding filled with gorgeous white and green flowers, amazing decoration from the venue itself, and a most stunning Jenny Packham dress.
Jodie and David were married on 11th May at The Crab and Lobster. ‘We got married there because it’s not your ‘typical’ wedding venue and does great food! We had 60 guests and it took 18 months to plan.’
How they met
Met through work at Pizza Hut and have been together for 9 years.
The Proposal
It was on holiday in Turkey. He got down on one knee and proposed whilst we were drinking champagne in our apartment. He proposed with a charm ring (for my bracelet), so I could pick my actual ring when we got home!
How did you allocate your budget
We didn’t have an exact budget as we knew that we didn’t want the typical big white wedding, and didn’t really want anything big and fussy. The budget was on the perfect venue with great food, so most of our budget went on this.
Where did you splurge and where did you save
We spent probably the most on my dress! We saved a lot on the flowers by going through a friend who was on Facebook rather than a big company. The bridesmaid dresses were from a highstreet store and so were the grooms and groomsmen outfits.
How did you choose your photographer
I really dislike staged wedding photos, so I wanted somebody who took natural not staged photos. I googled my wedding venue and found Anna Hardy who had shot a wedding there previous and they looked amazing and exactly what I was looking for. After looking through the website there was nobody else I wanted, it had to be Anna.
The Dress
My dress was by Jenny Packham and my shoes by Rachel Simpson
The Suit and Bridesmaids
The suits were from Debenhams (John Rocha) and the bridesmaids Coast.
Theme or Colour Scheme
Natural.
Flowers
The bridal bouquet was made up of white stocks and lisianthus, viburnum, jasmine, astilbe, thelesby, scabiosa, and gyp. The bridesmaids were made up of the same but smaller. The tables and groomsmen were all a variety of the above, and we had two big gypsophila
Decoration
Not much! The venue was already decorated and mad so we didn’t need to do much.
Food
We had a sit down meal which was fishcakes for starter, lamb shanks for main, and bread and butter pudding for dessert. For the evening we had a BBQ and ate cheese and crackers from our wedding cake.
Wedding Cake
We had a cheese cake consisting of 6 cheeses.
Entertainment
We had a live band for the evening.
The Stationery
Lucy Says I Do on Not on the High Street.
Personal or Handmade Touches
We did all the menus and chalk boards ourselves.
Special Moments
We had an hour of drinking and mingling before the ceremony which was really special and put me at ease! It was great to see everybody first and really get into the party spirit. It was such a great venue all the rooms had hot tubs, seeing everyone in their swimsuits drunk is a great memory!
Advice to other couples
Do what you want to do, not what other people want. Its your day so you have the right to be a bit selfish! Don’t stress about getting everything done quickly. I planned a lot of things very last minute (song for the aisle the day before!) despite everybody moaning at me.
Biggest surprise
How quickly it goes, nothing prepares you for it.
