Diary of a Boho Bride: Fay & Graeme (Entry 2) – The Hen Do

Good Afternoon to you all! How are you? I am so glad that it’s Friday, it’s been a really bad week with the weather and I don’t know about you but I find it so hard to get motivated!

Today we are back with one of my favourite features A diary of a Boho Bride and I am pleased to being back Fay and Graeme to the blog. Last time Fay talked all about dress shopping and today they are back on the blog talking about

I’ll pass you over to Fay….

Ten months to go, and with what feels like ages since my last post, I would love to say that we are much further along with the wedding planning – but we’re not! As a teacher, I had 6 weeks of summer holiday, so you’d think I’d have got loads done in that time.  I tried to convince myself that we were so organised in the first few months that we had been left with nothing to do until nearer the big day, but to be honest, we have just been enjoying our friend’s weddings, hen dos and stag dos instead!

In July, our friends Ashton and Mark had a gorgeous wedding in Tuscany which gave me loads of inspiration. Ashton has also been great for wedding advice, the best bit so far being “don’t stress about the small details – no one cares if all your stationary has rounded edges even if it took you hours to do!”

My six week break did give me some time to get crafty.  Our teepee wedding inspired me to make my own ‘reading’ teepee for my class at school which I decorated with homemade paper feather garlands and dream catchers (this served as a good practice run for our own wedding decorations). I am in love with the feather garland but I’ll need to start now if I want enough to cover the teepee!  I have really enjoyed the craft process and have come across some fantastic lifestyle blogs with some great tutorials, resulting in way too many ideas to cram into one teepee!   If we were having children at the wedding, I would definitely be making a teepee to entertain them as it was so cheap and easy to make.

I thought I would take the opportunity to talk about hen dos on this post.  Although I haven’t quite decided what to do for mine, I have never thought of myself as an ‘L-plate and willy-straw’ kind of girl! This summer I helped organise and attended one of my best friends hen dos to the Big Feastival; a food and music festival at Alex James’ (of Blur fame) farm.  It made me realise there are so many different options for hen dos and it was so much fun. We drank a lot of cocktails and cider, ate some of the best food (lobster included!), jumped up and down to Dizzee Rascal, drooled over Alex James (maybe that was just me), wore some very stylish animal ponchos, and lost our voices at a silent disco.  If you want a more laid-back hen do I would highly recommend choosing a festival, as long as you don’t mind a bit of mud and wet-wipe washes!

I also had my face made-up with a glitter tattoo from the fabulous ladies at Glint and Glory (if you meet them you will understand why I call them fabulous).  I loved it so much I’m now trying to persuade Graeme to have them on all the tables at the wedding for the guests to use.

So hopefully by my next post we will have done some more actual planning.  There loads to do and that little thing called ‘the dress’ is yet to be chosen…
