Diary of a Boho Bride – Molly & Scott, Entry 2: 8 months to go!

Happy Friday to you all! Only a few hours to go before we can finally say it’s the weekend! We have shared some amazing weddings with you this week and lots of wedding inspiration. Today we are back with one of my favourite features, Diary of a Boho Bride.

I do really love putting these features together and chatting by email to all our lovely Boho Brides. It’s lovely to hear about all their amazing wedding plans, seeing the progress and then the end result. Today on the blog it’s Molly and Scott, last time they were on the blog they chatted all about their invitations. Today they are back sharing with us all the information about just 8 months to go!

Molly and Scott I’ll pass you over to Molly and Scott…..

8 months to go!

I’m pleased to say we have come a long way since my last post! The save the dates are finally out and all the major jobs are done. I’ve now got my dress and the bridesmaid dresses and all suppliers and venues are booked!

Sending out the handmade save the dates and hearing everyone’s excitement once they had received them was a real high point in the wedding preparations so far. It now feels so very real and we are in major countdown mode! We have been engaged since December 2013 so it feels as though we have spent a lot of time talking about it but now the planning is really taking shape and I can picture how the day will be. I realised that the next wedding we go to will be our own!

We are now onto my favourite part of the planning – the decorations. Imagining what the tipi will look like on the day and planning all the finishing touches is so exciting! I want to spend as little money as possible to create the relaxed, chilled out atmosphere that we want so I’ve got various family members collecting jam jars, bits of slate and hay bales! My dad has been given the task of making wooden crates for centre pieces and my mum has handmade all the bunting and napkins for the top table. Scott’s mum has been growing some flowers in her garden especially for the tipi. I’m hoping that by gradually buying bits and bobs each month and collecting things over time it will minimise the stress of having to fork out lots of money just before the wedding as there will be less to pay for! – well, that’s the plan anyway!

The reason that we chose to have the wedding over two days was so that we could incorporate all of our family and friends into the wedding celebrations. It means so much to us that everyone can play their own part in our day and the wedding can reflect who we are as a couple.

We had initially decided not to have a honeymoon straight after the wedding but having taken advice from all our married friends we decided to just do it! The house is full of America holiday brochures and we are planning our dream California adventure! With just over 8 months to go I can’t contain my excitement – it’s really happening! I’d love to hear if anyone has done a California fly drive for their honeymoon and if you have any hints and tips for us?

Love Molly x
