Todays wedding is a real beauty, a rustic outdoor wedding with a marquee reception, which was set in the parents back garden! By holding the wedding on private land and not having to worry about the rules of a venue, Casey and Joseph were able to have the wedding they truly wanted. They invited 250 people and went to town on the rustic decoration, the gorgeous flowers, while mixing in antique pieces throughout the day. With red as the main accent colour they created a day that was full of DIY touches and stayed true to them. Big thanks to Darcy Ferris Photography for the gorgeous images.
Casey and Joseph were married on April 18th, 2015 at their parents house. ‘We wanted to be able to do most of the stuff ourselves and not be restrained by rules of a venue as well as be able to set up more than just the day of. We had 250 guests in total. We started when I got engaged so it was a 6 month process from starting to the wedding day.’
How they met
We worked together at a bookstore. We’ve been together just over a year.
The Proposal
The proposal was really simple in concept. Joe set out to give me my favourite day before he asked me to marry him. We went to the zoo, walked around Nashville, sat around and talked, laughed a lot. Had dinner and were star-gazing when he popped the question and I said yes.
How did you allocate your budget
We put the majority of our budget towards what was important to us and allocated based on personal preferences for priority. The bulk of our budget was for food. We wanted to be able to invite people without restrictions. So we had a lot of people to feed.
How did you choose your photographer
Joe and I both really enjoy the photo journalistic style of photography. Darcy both fitted our budget as well as our preference when it comes to the style and feel of photographs.
The Dress
I had a lady help me redesign my moms dress.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Joe got his suit for on express and the bridesmaids dresses were all styles from David’s bridal in persimmon red.
Theme or Colour Scheme
Our main colour was persimmon red with accents colors of sea foam, beige, golden yellow, and blush
Flowers
I couldn’t tell you the names. They were all wild flower looking. We had several forms of succulents I know that much.
Decoration
We put our engagement photos on wood blocks and had flowers as well as some burlap ribbon and various antique pieces mixed in.
Buy or DIY your Stationery
My brother, Nathan Tinius is a graphic artist designed all of our stationary.
Food
We had lunch boxes that had a trio of sandwiches (Cuban, turkey wrap, and pimento cheese) as well as brocoli salad, chex mix, and cheer water. For dessert we had wedding cake, various cookies, peanut butter tiramisu, lemon box cheesecake.
Wedding Cake
It was done by Alana Tyler. She was incredibly affordable and did an AMAZING job. Each layer was a different flavor we had strawberry, chocolate, and pineapple.
Entertainment
We made a bunch of yard games. We had horseshoes, giant Jenga, bocci ball, corn hole, Yahtzee, game tables (checkers, Chinese checkers, various board and card games.) we also had dancing and music and a firework show.
Special Moments
I really enjoyed getting to spend time with everyone during the reception. Another really cool moment was when joe and I were saying our vows being able to look out and see so many people who We loved and cherished and who loved and cherished us back.
Advice to other couples
Don’t get stressed. The wedding isnt a big deal and things will go wrong. What’s great is that even if everything goes wrong you still get to get married and that is what the whole day is about.
Biggest surprise
How much I just didn’t care about anything other than seeing joe and marrying him.
