Honeymoon Ideas – 5 Ideas for the Perfect Minimoon in the UK

Minimoon in the UK

Happy Wednesday everyone, we are now officially half way through the week, Yay  to that! I am already looking forward to the weekend! This afternoon we are back talking Honeymoons with our resident Honeymoon expert Tom. Last time Tom talked to us about Autumn Honeymoons and today he is here to talk to us about the relatively new craze for minimoons.

I’ll pass you over to Tom……

The post-wedding “minimoon” has become one of the fastest growing trends in the travel industry; and it’s easy to see why. Minimoons are the perfect way of enjoying a romantic little break before you head off for the real deal. Or for newlyweds without the mammoth budget, a minimoon holiday is a great alternative for the traditional honeymoon. If you’re not planning on venturing far, here are 5 ideas for the perfect minimoon in the UK.

Edinburgh City Break

edinburgh

Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. With the stunning backdrop of the Pentland Hills, this enchanted ancient capital is designed for the culture vultures among us. The castle dominates the skyline but the city is also a mecca of fine dining (5 Michelin restaurants to be precise) and a haven for designer shopping. Steeped in rich history and dotted with striking architecture on every corner, this is city chic at its best.

Campervan on the Coast

Campervans are a great way of exploring several destinations along the UK’s incredible, rugged coastline. With travel and accommodation all rolled into one, you can save money and really make the most of your travels if you hire a campervan. And although a motorhome holiday may not seem so glamorous at first, you’ll soon realise the riches around you when you take in the wonderful sea views and coastal sunsets in Britain’s best campervan parks. Some of the UK’s best coastal campsites include Bryher Campsite in Isles of Scilly, Treen Farm Campsite in Penzance, and Cobbs Hill Farm in East Sussex to name a few.

Romantic Cottage Break

A home away from home, a cottage weekend will give you ample time to enjoy one another’s company in a private and comfortable setting. Book a cottage in the romantic spa town of Bath and spend a few days relaxing, reserve a spot in the medieval city of York and explore the city sites together, or stay in the beautiful Lake District and have glorious natural wonders right on your doorstep. Wherever you go, it’s sure going to be romantic.

The Cotswolds

If you’re after romantic hillside sunsets, lush greenery, and quaint towns and villages, head to the Cotswolds for a captivating countryside vacation. Quintessentially British, towns such as Bibury, Blockley, Snowshill, Tetbury, Chipping North, Bourton-on-the-Water and the ancient Saxton town of Winchcombe all make fantastic bases. You’ll find charming B&Bs and cottages like this around every corner and you’ll have glorious, untouched countryside right at your fingertips.

Overnight in a Castle

For a minimoon with all the extravagance and drama, why not take your other half to stay in one of Great Britain’s many castle hotels and B&Bs? There are fewer things in life quite as romantic as a castle break and you’ll find various locations across the country to suit your taste and preference. The beautifully restored Tulloch Castle in Scotland has an intimate setting with just 20 rooms, Leeds Castle in Maidstone offers free entry into the castle museum and grounds for guests and is less than an hour’s drive from London, and Tregenna Castle Estate in Cornwall even has a heated indoor swimming pool and an 18-hole golf course. So the world is your oyster when it comes to romantic castle breaks.  If you really want to push the boat out then get a luxury travel consultant to plan your whole trip and take in the best of the area as well as the stunning accommodation

There will be more from Tom next month with more fab honeymoon ideas.
