Rosie and Kimberley’s Peach and Mint Country Rustic Wedding. By Millie Benbow

So here we are at the mid-point of the week! This time next week it will be Christmas Eve…..how has that creeped up so quickly? Are you ready yet? I know I’m not! Presents are bought but not yet wrapped, the cards aren’t written and I can see the last posting day looming closer and closer. Next year I am going to start planning in November so I don’t get this sense of panic again! Anyhow, I have a gorgeous same-sex wedding for you today from Millie Benbow. Its’ the gorgeous rustic wedding of Rosie and Kimberley, who chose a theme of peach and mint for their country themed wedding. With lots of paper pom poms, outdoor games and a gorgeous venue this wedding is just beautiful, as are the two lovely brides.

‘Surrounded by everyone that we love, alongside feeling completely intimate and in our own little bubble on the hottest day of the year ☺ Exciting and Emotional’

Rosie and Kimberley were married on 24 July 2014 at Deer Park Hall, Eckington, Pershore. ‘When we looked around Deer Park Hall, we walked into the Bredon Room that looks over the Malverns and fell in love with it. Every room was unique and the garden space was amazing, alongside spectacular views. The whole feel of the venue was exciting but calm.. (and Rosie jumped up and down saying ‘I want it I want it’ kinda sealed the deal). We had 80 day guests and 130 evening guests. It took one year of fun planning.’

How they met
We met through friends at V festival in 2009 and have been together ever since

The Proposal
Rosie took Kim back to v festival in 2012 where she proposed with a poem that she had written herself.

How did you allocate your budget
We spent the largest part of our budget on the venue, food and the band. Cake/Stationary/decoration/games/cars we roped in friends and family and definitely got stuck in ourselves, without spending money on the things that we believed we didn’t need to.

How did you choose your photographer
We chose Millie Benbow Photography, Millie and Jo’s work is incredible. It is both powerful and emotional. They capture all of the special moments and you don’t even realise they are there. When looking through previous photos that they have produced, they all tell the story of a couples’ day. They show so much detail and emotion and we couldn’t wait for them to photograph ours.

The Dress
Wedding Dress – honestly do not know who designed it. It never really mattered to Kim who designed it but she fell in love with it straight away. She found it in a little boutique in Birmingham. Shoes – Dune.

The Suit and Ushers
Topman suit and tie, T.M.Lewins shirt, Marks and Spencers shoes.
And bridesmaids? We allocated them each £50 (they could add more if they wanted) and they got to chose their own dress as long as it was peach.
Ushers – Topman trousers. T.M. Lewins shirts. Found the braces on ebay ☺ Asked them all to wear tan shoes…one of them still managed to turn up in dark brown….typical hehe ☺

Theme or Colour Scheme
Peach and mint country rustic wedding.

Flowers
A hand tied bouquet of wildflowers. We told the florist our colour scheme and theme and she understood what we were trying to achieve so we trusted her to choose. We specified hydrangeas for the centrepieces and the bridesmaids to have daisy bouquets.

Decoration
Using home made pom poms we hung them all from the ceiling in the main dining room and bar area. Also, Rosie’s mom made a heart mural out of pom poms for the front of the ceremony room. Kimmy is a hairdresser, and one of her clients sold us a large amount of tea sets for our afternoon tea party. All other bits and pieces we found at vintage fairs and on ebay.

Food
Afternoon tea – Selection of cocktail sandwiches and quiches. Scones with Clotted Cream and fruit conserve. Miniature cheesecake and brownies. Prosecco was served in the tea cups for toast.
Evening buffet – Hog roast.

Wedding Cake
Rosie’s sister Kate made the cakes. We wanted simple home made cakes that we loved – carrot cake, chocolate cake and Victoria sponge.

Entertainment
We had a band called Matt Strafford Duo. This band are energetic and make everybody want to dance. They do a range of music from the 50s to the current day. We love them!

Buy or DIY your Stationery
Rosie’s brother John designed all of the stationary. We asked him to include deer into the design and he provided us with perfect invites. Using the same design we created fans for our order of ceremony, and as it was such a hot day, they came in very useful.

Personal or Handmade Touches
Made the pom poms that hung from the ceiling and the heart mural made of pom poms at the front of the ceremony room.
Cornhole (garden game) was home made by Rosie’s brother John.
Photobooth was home made using wallpaper and pictures from charity shops. We had cat pictures on the photo booth because Kim wanted it to look a bit like Dolores Umbridge’s office in Harry Potter.

Special Moments
Our first look was our favourite moment of the day. When we got to see eachother for the first time and it was just us.

Advice to other couples
Make the whole day about the two of you and everything that you are about and it will be perfect. Don’t go overboard on spending, because the day will be amazing anyway. Remember what you are doing it for.

Biggest surprise
he biggest surprise of the day was Rosie had written a poem for Kimberley as a reading during the ceremony. Rosie’s brother read it out and everyone got very emotional.
