I love a wedding when the couple really make the day about themselves! Today’s wedding...

Happy Monday folks. Hope you had a lovely weekend! Let’s start this week’s run of real weddings with an amalgamation of two countries. Brigitta, the bride comes all the way from Australia and her dapper husband, complete with kilt (my favourite groom attire!) is from Edinburgh. The images, captured by Photos By Zoe, show just how magical the day was, with its glorious sunshine and the true celebratory spirit that every man, woman and child was filled with, to celebrate this very happy occasion. Edinburgh Castle is a stunning venue but it’s the small, personalised finishing touches like the homemade bunting that floats my boat.
Brigitta and Iain were married on the 19th April at Edinburgh Castle and the reception was at The Timberyard. “We decided to get married in Edinburgh as its my husband’s home town and a stunning city. The Castle holds special memories for him and The Timberyard has a wonderfully industrial yet natural setting with superb food! It took about a year to organise as I planned the wedding from Australia and also needed to give my (bride’s) family time to make the trip from Australia.”
How they met
We meet at a street party in Port Hercules Monaco at the Grand Prix F1 after party.
The proposal
Was a wonderful fusion of Scottish and Australian. It was a tea picnic on the beach in Australia.
How did you spend your budget?
We wanted a party for our family and friends with good food, wine and music and were happy to pay for a great night out of all!
How did you choose your photographer?
We choose Zoe Barrie for a number of reasons. Her photos not only capture the wedding day…but the warmth of family and friends. That was what was important to me. But she also put me at ease before and on the day with her knowledge of wedding days and helpfulness. Our Videographer was simply amazing! Our family and friends were blown away by how well he captured the day.
The wedding dress and accessories
Dress: Watters. Shoes: Karen Millen. Earings: Payet Gallery. Hair accessories: Boutique in Melbourne
The suit and bridesmaids
Groom and best men wore their own kilts. Bridesmaids choose their own dresses in a plum colour.
The theme
Theme was ‘Woodlands’ natural warm setting/colours. Plum/aubergine, gum leaf green and cream colours.
The flowers
Flowers were soft with gum leaves
Decoration
DIY – hanging circles strung from the court-yard trees and photo buntings of Iain and I. Table flowers I also did, they were kept simple with soft flowers, gum leaves and thistles.
The food and wedding cake
The food was fantastic, starting with seafood platters and then roast lamb and chicken for mains. There were three flavours in the 3 tier cake: Salted caramel chocolate, carrot, mango and coconut.
The entertainment
The band was fantastic! The sound was perfect, vocals great! Every song was a hit and we danced all night! (No one was left sitting)

Special moments
-Seeing all our family and friends from two countries having a dance/party together.
-Walking down the aisle and seeing nothing but smiles on everyone’s faces especially the grooms (and mine of course).
-The amazing food just kept coming and was delicious.
-The best men’s double comedy act!
-The band had everyone dancing! young and old.
-Really the whole day was perfect from start to finish.
Advice to other couples
Planning is the key for a stress free week before the wedding and the wedding day itself. If something is not as you planned, just accept that what happens is meant to be and roll with it! Sunny day, raining day…it doesn’t matter cause both will be magical in their own way. Don’t forget to stop and take in the wonder of having all your loved ones in one place at one time. That’s a rare moment in life.
Biggest surprise
How at ease I felt. I expected it to be stressful but it wasn’t. I guess I was just too happy!
