Entry 26 of my Photography diary and this time I am delighted to be able to share with you my Holiday photos from a recent trip to Lanzarote. At the beginning of March, Nik and I took ourselves off for our last holiday before our baby is born in June. Lots of people had told us good things about Lanzarote, so looked into and got a few hotel recommendations from people (Thanks Lucy) and before we knew it we’d booked it! We went from 1st – 8th March which coincided with my Birthday and stayed at The Dream Gran Castillo Hotel in Playa Blanca. We realised on the plane that this was going to be our last holiday baby and child free, so we really should make the most of the time we had. The holiday actually tuned out to be much more about sitting by the pool, reading and enjoying the all-inclusive food and drink than we had first anticipated!
We did manage to venture out of the hotel for a couple of days and when we did we managed to see quite a lot of the island. It really is a beautiful place and somewhere we intend to go back to with baby Hood in the next few years. We really enjoyed our stay and I really enjoyed taking these photos.
I took my 5D mark II and mainly used my 50mm and my 35mm. I did have my 85mm with me but I found walking round with just one lens was much easier than taking my whole camera bag with me when we went out. I used VSCO to edit them and made my own presents with Fuji superia 400- as my basis, but I played around a lot with the exposure, blacks and shadows. The most challenging thing about taking these photos was getting used to the amount of sun, having the shutter speed up so high took some getting used to. I’m pretty pleased with the results though and I’m loving my new 5D!
