Happy Monday everyone and welcome along to another week! I hope you all had a good weekend? So this week is going to go by in a flash, why? because it’s another bank holiday weekend coming up, yay for that! I have a whole host of fabulous weddings for you this week starting with a little trip to Spain for this beautiful wedding from dosmasenlamesa. Destination weddings are always so amazing, all that beautiful sunshine really makes a difference to the photos. This outdoor ceremony is just stunning, with the amazing views and the simple decor, it is just oozing Spanish style!
Ione and Sidhartha were married in front of 110 family and friends, on 28th June at the Mirador de Ulia Restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain. “We just knew the venue was perfect because of the stunning views of our city from the restaurant windows.”
How they met
We met at work and we’ve been together for 4 years.
The proposal
My husband proposed on 31st December 2012 during NYE dinner in Shanghai, China. I didn’t expect it so it was very exciting.
How did you allocate your budget?
Being food lovers, for us the biggest budget allocation was for the exceptional dinner at Mirador de Ulia Restaurant.
Why did you choose your photographer?
I saw some pictures of dosmasenlamesa and I loved their spontaneity and natural feeling of them. As soon as I met them, I knew they were right the photographers for our wedding.
The dress and accessories
My dress was by Otaduy, my shoes were Jimmy Choo, and silk tiara by Cécile Boccara Atelier. I was also wearing my grandmother and my mother’s earrings and necklace.
The suit and bridesmaids
The suit was custom-made by a tailor in Paris.
The theme
No, we just went for anything that we loved, we acted on instinct.
The flowers
For the tables we had lavender and pretty romantic flowers. For the ceremony we had Hortensia, Marigold as for the Indian heritage of my husband and other colourful local flowers. All flowers were provided by Flowers & Co. from San Sebastian.
The decoration
We had flowers everywhere, and also candles and antique lamps with candles illuminating certain gathering areas.
The food and the wedding cake
– TRUFFLE AND CORN, COCOA, PINEAPPLE CROCANT FOIE
– SALAD OF COD FLAKE CONFIT, WITH PIQUILLOS VINAIGRETTE
– ROASTED LOBSTER, EMULSION OF COCONUT AND OTHER SHADES
– OVEN BAKED MONKFISH WITH CITRIC SAUCE
– MANDARIN SORBET WITH VODKA
– LOCALLY GROWN DUCK LACQUERED COOKED FOR 12H.
The wedding cake was a traditional pastry cake with yoghurt ice cream.
The entertainment
We hired two people to play txalaparta, which is a basque instrument, and also a DJ for the ceremony and dance after the dinner.
Buy or DIY stationery?
We hired a graphic designer for all the stationery.
Personal or handmade touches
We recorded CD-s with the songs that had marked our relationship, our soundtrack, made copies and give one to each guest. We used the design done for the invitations for the cover of the CDs.
Special moments
There were many special moments, but one highlight of the day was the speech from my husband once we got married.
Advice for other couples
I would advise them that even the preparations take time and can be very stressful, the day of the wedding, just relax and enjoy.
Biggest surprise
When my dad sang a beautiful song during the ceremony, I didn’t expect it.
