I do love a beach wedding, so full of sun, sand and sea! I feature quite a few beach weddings on the blog, but most of them are destination weddings. However there is one beach you can legally get married on in the UK and that is the beach at Bournemouth, thanks to Beach Weddings Bournemouth. I have featured many a wedding from this venue before and all of them have been gorgeous, so full of amazing sunshine, thanks to the wonderful weather we had last year! And today’s wedding is no exception! Adina and John had a totally laid back day and went with the whole beach vibe and really went along with the whole theme. A magical day and they both looked amazing, I am loving John’s Hugo Boss pale blue suit. Big thanks to the lovely ladies at Cotton Candy Photography for these super images.
Adina and John were married on the 14th July at the beach hut, Bournemouth Beach. ‘We were only looking for a ceremony location at first and we fancied something slightly unusual. We had been looking at various venues when a friend suggested we take a look at a beach wedding venue they had seen on TV. We had 60 guests and it took a year to plan.’
How they met
We’ve been working in the same building for a few months, when John plucked up the courage to invite me out. We went on our first date and we’ve been together ever since. That was 4 years ago.
The proposal
John and I were on holiday in Sicily. We’d driven to Syracuse to watch a play in a beautiful ancient open air amphitheatre. Unbeknown to me, earlier that day, while shopping in Taormina, John made an excuse and sneaked back to a jewellery shop where I had been admiring a ring.
At the end of the play, when the amphitheatre had cleared, John got down in one knee and asked me to be his wife. I felt like I was the most special woman on Earth.
How did you allocate your budget?
We wanted to celebrate our union in my home country too so we split our entire budget in two. Most of it went on the venue, followed by food and drinks.
Why did you choose your photographer?
After many hours scrawling through photographers online and wedding fairs, we came across the fabulous girls from Cotton Candy. We loved their style straight away, the light and colours in their photos and their use of vintage cameras.
The dress
The dress was by Pronovias, and my shoes were from Jimmy Choo
The suit and bridesmaids
Suit was from Hugo Boss. John decided early on in the planning of the wedding that he wanted a light blue suit. After several months of searching he found his perfect suit.
Theme or colour scheme
We went with the obvious, a natural Sea/Beach theme. We wanted it to be relaxed and not too formal, but at the same time maintaining a smart feel.
Flowers
Unique and original floral sculptures by Owen at Little Lillies: sand blasted manzanitas, air plants and white orchids. We had a consultation with Owen and discussed themes and materials, but the end result was a surprise left until the day of the wedding. And wow, we loved it!
Decoration
We just had flowers to decorate
Food
We had a beach BBQ and 4 flavours of local purbeck ice-cream instead of a cake.
Entertainment
An amazing duo – Grace and Mickey from All in the Swing MG Production.
Buy or DIY your Stationery?
We bought the invitations but made the table plan and favours a few days before the wedding.
Advice for other couples
Don’t worry about little things going wrong. Enjoy your day!
Special moments or highlights
Sharing our special moment with the family (my parents flew from Romania to be with us) and having a superb weather. Also the happy look on people’s faces when they saw the free ice cold beers
Biggest surprise
Our biggest surprise was how well all the different suppliers communicated and worked together to make our special day run seamlessly.
