Lindsay and Jack’s Village Fete Wedding by Belinda McCarthy

I have a wonderful Village Feet Wedding for you today full of traditional games, hay bales and lots of lovely details. It’s been sent into me by Belinda McCarthy, who is based in Somerset where the wedding takes place. The couple were lucky enough have a Humanist outdoor ceremony followed by a marquee reception, both in the Grooms parents back garden, so giving the whole day a perfectly relaxed chilled out feel.

‘Personal, relaxed, country vintage outdoor wedding with lots of fun & games.’

Lindsay and Jack who were married on 1st September 2012 at Ash House Hotel, Somerset with reception in Grooms parents garden next door. ‘It’s where Jack grew up, and his parents have a beautiful garden. We wanted an outdoor wedding so it made sense! We had 90 guests and it took about 9 months to plan, which I guess is short in wedding terms!’

How they met
We met at a mutual friends Christmas Party, around 5 years before the wedding.

The proposal
We were out on a walk in the countryside, and climbed to the top of a hill. Jack distracted me by pointing at something in the distance saying ‘what’s that’ and by the time I looked back Jack was on 1 knee.

Why did you choose your photographer?
We found Belinda McCarthy on the internet. She was local to the area and we loved her documentary style, and the vintage & classic feel to her work.

The dress
The dress was from Benjamin Roberts- Tia from Proposals in Witney and shoes by Rainbow.

The suit
The suits were from Mabbs in Yeovil, and the flower girls from John Lewis.

Theme or colour scheme
Grey/Silver/vintage rose & baby pinks.

Personal / DIY touches
We made the jam as the favours for guests, myself and my friends made the cupcakes, and my dad made a bridge over to the garden from the ceremony to the reception for guests.

Special moments
The outdoor ceremony & the sun coming out, seeing the pictures from the photo booth the next day, lots of dancing.

Biggest surprise
It all went so smoothly! We were expecting something to go wrong but it didn’t. It was a wonderful day.

Advice
For decorations less is more. Delegate tasks out so you don’t burn out! If you’re doing it in your own garden like we did, hire someone for on the day organisation, it’s worth the money!

I do love this wedding, it reminds me of the village fete we used to have in our little Cornish village at home every year, despicably the go fish game!

Love the rustic farm feel I’m sure it kind of makes the attendees relax, you know we won’t break anything relax. And they thought of every detail.

I was lucky to be a guest at this wedding and I can honestly say it was the most beautiful one I’ve been to, just a perfect relaxed happy day.
