Henry and Joelle’s Super Stylish Mexican Wedding with a Donkey and Maracas by Julia Franzosa Photography
Today’s wedding is super stylish and super fun and features a donkey! Now I LOVE...
Today’s wedding takes part in two of the five boroughs of New York; Queens and Brooklyn and it is full of rustic, urban charm! With a whole load of DIY details this wedding is just gorgeous, the decor and the flowers, mixed with this amazing Brooklyn reception venue and that awesome New York Skyline….perfect! Thanks to Vanessa Joy for capturing this wedding in all it’s glory and sending me the images to share with you!
The couple in question are the gorgeous Nicole and John who were married on 24th September. The ceremony was held at St.Matthias RC Church in Ridgewood Queens and the reception was at MyMoon Restaurant in Williamsburg Brooklyn. ‘We love the beginning of fall so we picked the first weekend of the season, we had 125 guests and it took about a year and a half to plan.’
How they met
We met through my (Nicole’s) sister, we were together for 8 years when we got married.
John proposed in our apartment on Christmas Eve. I’ve worked in the wedding industry for a long time and became jaded with weddings. We assumed we would elope when we were ready. The proposal was a huge surprise.
Why did you choose your photographer?
A friend of mine got married a year before I did and when I saw her wedding pictures I knew there was no option. We didn’t see any other photographers.

Vintage keys with fall colors
Our cocktail hour consisted of a few pass around horderves. Our main course was a choice between steak, chicken or fish. We both had the steak.
I created my bouquet out of anthology knobs and my bridesmaids’ bouquets were made from crochet, fabric and paper flower. The table arrangements consisted of fresh cut flowers (im not sure what kind) and crochet flowers.
For church: I decorated the alter with lanterns. The pews had large wooden keys with the letter R.
Reception: Mostly vintage keys. I made fabric menu holders as well. All of the small rustic details were mostly purchased from etsy.
