The lovely couple are Karen and Rob who were married on 28th April the ceremony was held at St Johns Church, Carlton-in-Lindrick, Nottinghamshire, with the reception in Groom’s family home and garden next door to the church. They had 93 gusts to the day and an additional 30 in the evening, it took just under a year to plan.

How they met
We met at work and have been together 9 and a half years.

The proposal
Very romantic, we were holding a royal wedding tea party at his family home and afterwards, we both went into the house for a drink and when it was just the 2 of us he proposed while his family were all eagerly waiting outside.

How did you choose your photographer ?
After weeks of research and a thorough review of the work on his blog we made the decision to meet Mark. His style was exactly what we were looking for, informal, relaxed, reportage of the day, rather than lots of posed photos with misty edges. Mark was able to blend into the background perfectly and got so many great shots, which gave us a few problems when trying to select the final ones for the album!

The dress
Dress was called Gypsy and was made to measure by Beverly Lister in her boutique in Godalming; it was a French lace and vanilla satin gown. Shoes were by Phase Eight Earrings by Chex bec

Suit and bridesmaids
The suit and shoes were by Reiss and the bridesmaid dresses were by French Connection

Theme
French Navy for the Grooms suit and Bridesmaids dresses, the rest very relaxed and muted classic, vintage colours.

Entertainment
Fantastic DJ Nick Campbell in the evening who kept everyone on the dance floor all night

Flowers
An English Country Garden theme. We wanted to keep the air miles down and the flowers to look like they had been gathered from the garden so we chose a nearby florist from Doddington Hall who specialised in seasonal flowers gathered from her amazing cutting garden. Rachel and her team were fabulous, totally understood our brief and was so creative, we left it all to her and was so happy with the end result.

Decoration
Bunting, small flowers in jars and tea cups, lanterns with candles in and a vintage feel with old family suitcases. We also had a disco ball as every dance floor needs one!

Personal touches
• A family friend designed the beautiful wedding invites and the eco theme was carried throughout the day and beyond from the orders of service, luggage tag place names, table plan and the thank you cards which we printed ourselves.
• The bunting was made by the groom’s sister-in-law and was used at their wedding at the same venue 6 months earlier.
• The decoration of the tipis was definitely a team effort with family and friends all pitching in.
• The Bride is vegetarian and sourced vegetarian, organic wine for the wedding after sampling it during the annual family break to Norfolk
• The favours were charity donations at each place setting to Cancer research in memory of the Bride’s mother and Alzheimer’s Society in memory of the Brides Grandfather.

Special moments
♥ Opening our card and present from each other on the morning of the wedding.
♥ The choir at the church were fabulous and really made the day special, their rendition of: The Lord bless you and keep you by Rutter was just magical and really made the ceremony.
♥ The bible reading (Song of Solomon – Chapter 2) read by our close family friends in the church and the solo (Pie Jesu) performed by another talented family friend were very special too.
♥ Seeing the Tipis decorated and ready for guests for the first time.
♥ The speeches were fantastic, lots of laughs and a few tears too!
♥ The dance floor and the amazing moves strutted by the stags as they replayed their stag do highlights!
♥ Having all our friends and family there to share our special day,
♥ Take 1 of the throwing of the bridal bouquet as a close friend dived half way across the dance floor to get it, even though she was getting married 6 months later!

Advice
• Don’t stress about wedding favours, a charity donation goes a long way.
• Relax on the day, all the stress and heightened anxiety in the run up to the big day is definitely worth it as the day itself is so special and a fantastic memory for years to come.
• Have a receiving line at the reception, it was a last minute decision for us but meant that we had spoken to every one of our guests!
• Have some umbrellas at the ready as you never know what the British weather will be like!
• Give someone in the wedding party the task of moving the Guest book round between the tables to ensure everyone has had the chance to write a message.
• Have an informal get together the day afterwards for everyone to reflect on the day while it’s still fresh in their memories!
• For church weddings, the CoE website really helps with the process, order of service and hymn choices too: www.yourchurchwedding.org/

Biggest surprise
The Backstreet Boys remake video (I want it that way) filmed on the grooms stag do in Barcelona, fantastic editing and a surprise to the bride and also the groom who was told by his best man that he hadn’t had the chance to finish it in time, everyone loved it and it’s been replayed many times since the wedding too.
