Yep it’s Friday again. It’s come round so quickly! This has been a very busy week and I have an equally busy weekend coming up. Tomorrow is the wedding of Claire and Tom in Skipton who I have been working with for the past year….I can’t wait!
For now though I have a beautiful bride in a Claire Pettibone dress, with a vintage inspired day. The wedding is full of DIY projects, as well as a whole heap of vintage props and decor. A beautiful outdoor ceremony starts the wedding off in this gorgeous Cheshire venue……..just perfect!
The lovely couple are Emma and Giles who were married on 21st July at Hilltop Country House in Prestbury, Cheshire ‘The beautiful outside space that we wanted and the marquee gave us the freedom to transform it into what we wanted. We had 60 guests and it took 10 months to plan’
‘Everything we had dreamed of, best day of our lives’
How they met
We’ve been together about two and a half years. We met through friends at an Ian Brown gig in Platt field Park, Manchester.
The proposal
We got engaged in Australia. It was amazing and so romantic. We were travelling the West coast of Australia and were having a picnic and watching the sunset on the beach.
Why did you choose your photographer?
We loved Jules and her reportage style of photography, we had looked through her website and blog and the photos were just the style we wanted.
The Dress
My dress was by Claire Pettibone called Queen Annes lace. My shoes were from Rachel Simpson and my headband from Flo and Percy. They were all through The White Closet in Didsbury, Manchester.
The suit
Giles’ suit was from Topman and the girls’ dresses were from Alfred Angelo.
Theme
We wanted a vintage, shabby chic, village fete style of wedding. We knew we wanted it to be really personal and we spent a lot of time making all the little details right.
Food
We had a two course meal. We had a vintage ice cream trike for dessert from Ice Cream Dub and a wedding cheese cake and a cupcake wedding cake.
Entertainment
We had a DJ and danced the night away.
Flowers
I had a mixture of roses, lavender, sweet peas, thistles and other wild looking flowers. We had lots of flowers in jam jars and different sized vases from The Flower Lounge in Didsbury
Decoration
We had a vintage theme and hired Saddleworth Shindigs for our vintage props, crockery and furniture.
Personal touches
• We made all of the wedding stationary
• All of the hearts that hung on the back of the chairs
• All of the favours, chutney for the boys, sweets for the girls and children
• Our seating plan
• A frame that we filled full of instagram Polaroid photos.
• For our cake topper we ordered plain peg dolls from Esty and decorated them to look like us.
• Vases and jam jars that we decorated.
• The kids party bags that we filled with toys, sticker books, wings and masks.
Special moments
The speeches were very emotional.
Advice
Be very organised and make a big list. Try and have a go and make things; they don’t have to look perfect and it really adds something to the day.
Biggest surprise
How quickly it went. We wanted the day to last forever but it was over so quickly.

Beautiful wedding, and I’d know a Saddleworth Shindigs affair anywhere with all those gorgeous props. What I wouldn’t give to live in their warehouse full of loveliness!!
