Real Weddings: A Week In Vietnam……

A couple of months ago I went over to Nottingham to meet with Stacey Terrya cake loving photographer, to talk weddings, photography, Ibiza and life in general.
I hit it off with Stacey straight away, a right chatter box (takes one to know one) and fell in love with her work.

Stacey is primarily a fashion photographer, so her more recent venture into wedding photography, brings with it a new style and a great edge. She showed me through her albums which I loved, slim line and easy to carry about. Her photography really tells a story!

She showed me the full album of the wedding I am sharing with you today, a week long trip to Vietnam for the wedding of Anh and Scott……………………..I hope you love them as much as I do.

The wedding was in Ho Chi Minh City on 21 February 2010, the bride is Phan Tran Tu Anh – (known as Anh ) and the groom is Scott Casterton, who has lived in Australia for the last 10 years, but originally a Nottingham lad.
A group of 12 travelled from England to be at the wedding, together with guests from Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. Guests stayed at the Majestic Hotel in Saigon (Ho chi Minh City), where the groom stayed prior to the wedding.

The wedding ceremony attended by close family and friends was held at Anh’s Mothers residence, just essentially one room, with a awning from her house to the neighbours across the street. The ceremony took place at 8am.

The pig is a very important part of the ceremony and is carried by two important friends on the Grooms side. The size of the pig implies the wealth of the wedding. It is carried to the ceremony, then eaten by the guests.

A second ‘Wedding’ is then theatrically carried out in the evening to a massive audience of well wishers and wider group of relatives and friends, who bring gifts of money in red envelopes. This is a full production of dancers, singers, glitz and stage glamour.

Unfortunately like most weddings the guests didn’t disappear after the day! The bride and groom played host for a further 7 days to 20 guests in both Saigon and Hoi An, with a fantastic insight into the real Vietnam, with the assistance of Anh, obviously very familiar with the culture, language and what should be experienced.

Stacey says about her trip ‘A totally amazing country, with the most interesting people’. I have to agree with her! she manages to capture the country so well, I’ve never been and these pictures really make me want to visit!
