Papakata Open Day

On Saturday 10th April I went up to York for the Papakata Open day.
The day was glorious with what must have been the first day of proper spring, amazing sunshine which made the day even better.
I doubled up my trip and met with Kay and David the proud parents of Sophie who is marrying Toni in August at the Botanical gardens in Sheffield, with the reception to be held in the Papakata tent in the grounds of the gardens.
I have been lucky enough to be involved with this amazing wedding and have been discussing ideas with Kay for the last few weeks. So we decided to meet at the open day so we could go through a few more ideas and really gets to grips with what the tents would look like.

The Papakata people say about their tents:
We specialise in hiring out Kåta tents – the tipi style tents that were pioneered by the Sami people of Lapland. They’re utterly gorgeous, and make for a very different sort of party space than a run-of-the-mill marquee.

We set up PapaKåta after trying to find a marquee for our own event. We looked at loads of different companies, but all their marquees looked, well, a bit samey. And we wanted something special. When we finally came across the Kåta tents, we just fell for them.
We love Kåta tents, and we’re passionate about providing something completely different for your special occasion, which is nothing less than it deserves.
Our tents are, where possible, made entirely out of natural materials because we think that’s just the way things should be done. We also endeavour to be carbon neutral. That means that for every event we participate in we support the planting of enough trees to compensate for the carbon released during the planning, holding, and packing up of that event.

We design everything to suit your needs, so no matter what you have in mind, we’re here to make it happen.
Our tents are really flexible and can cater for just about any size and type of event: they can be used alone or joined together, with their sides raised or lowered to create just the right space.
And combined with our range of interiors and furnishings, they’ll help you create the perfect atmosphere.
We’ll deliver the tents to your location, put them up and furnish them. We’re then on call for the duration of your hire, just in case you need us, until we come back to take it all away again.

Weddings are worth celebrating in style and deserve a setting fit for the occasion. Each Kåta tent can hold up to 72 people for a sit down dinner, two joined together up to 150, three joined – 250, and so on.
They’re a viable and exciting alternative to any wedding marquee, and comparable in cost too.

I really love these tents and think they would be amazing for any sort of wedding, event or party! Even my husband was impressed, and if we do ever renew our vows in this country then we will be using Papkata tents to create a perfectly unique day.

Both myself and Kay came away from the day with lots of amazing ideas for Sophie and Toni’s wedding day. I know lots of other people who have been to wedding where the Papakata tents have been used and everyone has had wonderful things to say about them………….this wedding it is going to be truly amazing.
The Botanical gardens are a wonderful place to get married, and to have the reception there as well is quite rare, so the day will be truly magical.
I will be working with Kay over the next few months to make sure the day is as perfect as can be, I really can’t wait!

Here are a few of the pictures I took on the day.
